Launching the Duck House

The duck house was kindly donated to our town by our dear friend, the late Jean Mason; who loved to come and sit at the Beck and watch the ducklings in the spring.

My Dad Cyril had the duck house made for Jean and today, along with her husband Keith and my Mum Wendy; we had our annual launching of the duck house.

On this frosty morning we moved the duck house from our garage down to the Beck, which saw a team effort in launching it once again for us all to enjoy.

In addition to this we litter picked and my Dad removed the debris from the grate so the water can flow to the drain and prevent any potential flooding on to the road. Some of you may know my Dad received a civic award for his efforts maintaining the Beck, you will regularly see him clearing the area.

I’d like to thank Jean’s husband Keith and my Dad and Mum for spending the time to fulfil her wishes and launch the duck house, to help create a lovely Beck for us all to enjoy.

My allotment is the best medicine for my mental well-being. When life gets wild I’m able to go to my shed, ground in with nature and follow the pace of my plants. Nature has been my greatest teacher, her unpredictable patterns teaching us to not be attached to the outcome. Instead being in the moment with the process and knowing the only thing we can be certain of is change. The rain will come again and to enjoy every moment of these gorgeous sunny days.

I created this arrangement with roses from my friends Penny’s garden and down the plots. The real star of the Rock and Roll rose with white, cream and cherry stripes, her scent so sweet and delicious! Roses are the flower of love and also used as a symbol for romance, gratitude, grave, joy and admiration. Summer 2022
