WEDDING VENUES - Here are 3 questions every couple should ask before booking their venue / DJ:
1. Where is the dancefloor?
If the DJ isn't near the dancefloor, it's less likely people will dance. (It's also more likely grandma will be sitting in front of a speaker, complaining about the volume.)
2. Is there a volume limit?
Some venues have decibel restrictions for DJs / bands, especially if they're in a hotel or an outdoor space with noise ordinances. (Remember: Guests cheering/singing along adds to volume too!)
3. What does the lighting look like at different times during the event?
If there are windows, then it'll look bright/different with daylight. At night, if there are no dimmers or twinkle lights, you may only have two options during dancing: Bright lights or super dark. Ask your DJ about uplighting, which can splash different colors around the room to match your vibe, flowers, bridesmaids' dresses, etc.
BONUS QUESTION: Does the venue have its own sound system?
Honestly, it doesn't matter in most cases. DJs should still plan on using their own speakers, because house systems are often quieter and more suited to background music than announcements, speeches and dancing.
