Funk the system is a Ghent-based movement intended to bring people together. It is born out of love and growing through creative motion and joyful cooperation. It stands for community building through inspiring events giving a voice to each individual’s uniqueness. By allowing them to share with pride the spark of their own identity, their own funk.
To funk the system is the expression of a wish to paint a richer picture of society. Too many radiant colours go unnoticed on our city’s canvas. The goal is social change through cultural empowerment. Social change not by breaking down, but by building up.
Whoever wishes to contribute or participate is welcome at any time. We aspire to make people feel safe and comfortable with who they are and what they want to bring to the world. Empathic dialogue and mutual understanding pave the way to a city built upon freedom. In the absence of judgement, beauty grows freely.
And on top of that all, we just love to party.
Because if we can’t dance to it, it’s not our revolution.
