It is election season and I have been nominated and accepted the nomination for the Vice-Chair position for Nebraska USA Wrestling. I wanted to take a minute to share some of my thoughts on this upcoming election with the hope of allowing everyone who has a vote to be able to make an informed decision. I am sure I’m not friends on here with everyone who has a vote so please share this in the hope they get a chance to see it.
I would not get involved if I did not feel I was capable of helping. There have been countless great people who have volunteered their time and energy to this great organization and my goal is to not only pick up where they left off but further their vision for the organization and the wrestlers, coaches and families of our state.
Serving as assistant junior director this past year, being a board member and co-founder of a USA Wrestling chartered facility, wrestling dad, coach, financial advisor and super fan has given me the desire and knowledge base to get involved and help.
We have so many great coaches, boards, sponsors, wrestlers and families making a huge commitment to the betterment of the state I have no desire whatsoever to upset that. I seek to continue to work to make wrestling in Nebraska more affordable, top tier coaching and instruction as well as competition even more available across the entire state.
I would love to see us utilize technology for both in-person as well as virtual training while recording and indexing that training so as to be referenced by the wrestling community for years to come. Ideally we would add to this catalogue and make an easily sortable and manageable video series for everyone to use as needed. Nebraska is a BIG state and all of this area makes it very hard to get to everyone as often as needed but the use of technology to provide an on-demand coaching supplement would be invaluable.
We as a state have the knowledge base and coaches capable of helping our wrestlers make even more jumps and a delivery system in many instances is all that is missing.
I close by saying I have a lot of ideas and would truly appreciate an opportunity to give back to the sport and community that has given my family and I more than we could ever give it back.
