EXCELSIOR!: Yesterday we went into the new store in Broadmead. It’s a really great space, not all crammed in and the second floor has loads of rooms for games and coffee (96 seats I think they said). I was also surprised to see Will of Tabletop Cafe fame working in the cafe. It’s a great space and I think a lot of the community who used to hang out at original Bristol Geek Retreat are making it their new home.

So get on down there and support it.

GAMERS' CONCLAVE ANNOUNCEMENT! We are moving our Games Night to RePlay. After the sad and untimely closure of Geek Retreat we needed a new venue and we've arranged to meet at RePlay. thanks to the quick work of the staff there, we'll be taking over the downstairs area at our usual time: 7pm every other Thursday (including this week 25th April).

Location: If you're not already familiar the address is 196 Cheltenham Road, close to the Arches. And note, we'll be downstairs.

Parking: You can generally find free parking nearby on the streets around. So that's a bonus. Plus it's not in the clean air zone, which will be really good for some.

Busing: If you're getting a bus it's on the main bus Gloucester Road bus route in and out of town.
I'll invite you all to the event and give you any further updates there! So don't miss the Games night this week in the new venue!

NEWS: GEEK RETREAT CLOSING THIS SUNDAY?: Last night at the Geek Retreat Bristol we were told by John and the team that their landlord who owns the Geek Retreat building will be selling the venue, rendering the business homeless.

We’d like to stress that it’s not due to mismanagement or going bust, the business and the community it has built has been thriving.

What’s most shocking is the speed at which it is happening. As it stands, they will have to close their doors on Sunday night! (And they were happy for us to spread the word).

John and Kay are hoping to re-establish themselves in a new location (most likely under a new name) but obviously this will take time. We are hoping they can somehow find a time extension to at least bridge the gap to move, but with things moving so quickly it’s looking unlikely.

The Conclave Network and Bristol Geek Retreat launched at the same time and have been firm friends since then, so we are very sad to see this happening.
(Obviously this will effect our own Gamers’ Conclave events but the next is not on for two weeks so we’ll keep you posted about that).

In the meantime, (I.e. today, tomorrow and Sunday) let’s get down there and buy up their stock of Magic, Pokémon, rpg books etc to give them less baggage and more capital to work with.

This is sad news, if and when we hear more we’ll let you know.

CONCLAVE NETWORK ON BBC ONE: In July, a BBC film crew along with came to our Sacred Conclave meeting. They interviewed Christian C, Alex M and a few of you too. The article will be aired (we are told) on BBC 1 at 10:30am on Sunday Morning Live ep.14 . Catch it then or on iPlayer.

DEATH SENTENCE!: This a BIG thank you to Bristol artist Neil Ferguson at Death Sentence who very kindly gifted the Conclave Network about 50 Christmas Cards, and a dozen bauble to give away at our Metal Christmas Carol Service. He creates merc with heavy metal style art that actually says positive things like Merry Christmas, Home Sweet Home, Everything is awesome, etc. I’ve got several of his pieces about the house now (pictured) and it’s highly recommended.
