How to deal with family drama (and other things you aren’t getting paid for)! Click link on Bio to read more..

Family drama exists before the engagement; the planning process is just another stage for that drama to play out. It brings pre-existing issues to the surface, which can quickly get out of hand if not controlled. Comment below on experiences you have had with families in your past events.

Do you think there's a likelihood that even after the pandemic, virtual events will replace physical events to a reasonable extent especially because they are less expensive and budget friendly?

Please share with us in the comment section which event you would rather attend? A virtual event or a physical event?

CATERING FOR AN EVENT

This is what one of our professionals has to say about Catering:

Being a guest myself at so many events, I have observed that bad food is a huge turn off😒
Imagine the excellence and top notch in hall and décor, ushering, photography, general organization etc. And then you have a taste of the food and it is BAAAAD😫
And maybe it is not just your order but other guests with different meals have similar complaints, it can be very disappointing!
Imagine you travelled 4hours and you're doing the same journey back....

Food is one of the most, if not the most important at any event. This is because it caters to the welfare need of your guests.
And you know what, the quality is just as important as providing the food.

As a Caterer, be the first guest, IF you cannot eat and enjoy the food prepared for an event PLEASE AND PLEASE DO NOT serve it (bearing this in mind, it will guide the preparation of food).

How To Make Your Guests Feel Included In Your Virtual Wedding.

Virtual weddings can be as exciting for you as they are for your guests. Most of the time, we concentrate less on the guest experience and inclusion because they are not physically present at the actual event.
Here’s how we think you can make the most of it and make your guests feel really included, even from the comfort of their sofa.

- Send them an official virtual wedding invitation
- Ask them to dress up
- Ask them to use the largest device they have for streaming so they can feel as engaged in the ceremony as is possible
- Send them a wedding package/souvenir
- Ask them to send you a photo of them celebrating your day, they might even want to record a message for you.
- Send a thank you note after the wedding. In this, you can include links to your photo galleries and/or wedding film highlights.

What is the future of Events

The pandemic has created a major shift in the event Industry causing most event to be virtual. Covid-19 has made large g*therings and physical events almost impossible. Event's would also have been almost impossible but thanks to technology. Now most if not all events are being held virtually either on zoom or social media platforms. The pandemic forced us to rely on technology for events, it has reset the way we hold events.

Virtual events might be strange to many people but it is something we all have adjusted to and must be accustomed with. Even though virtual events will never give us the feelings of physical events, like having to shake hands, hugging and networking. Virtual events will never give us all of these. Virtual events are actually reinforcing the need that we have to meet in person. Once things reopen fully, many meetings will happen virtually but the need to meet live will be replaced. It will be stronger than ever before. Virtual events will only replace all those events and meetings that didn't need to be in person to begin with.

The Ups and Downs of Being an Event Planner Part I

So, what are the most common upsides and downsides to this profession? Let’s take a look!

Upside: You’ll never get bored!
For some, the typical 9-5 office job is just a little too boring for their tastes. Too repetitive. But a career as an event planner is anything but this!

You’ll quickly come to find that no two events will ever be the same. Every client will be different, with different visions for how they want their special day to come together. This means that each project will provide you a new way to challenge yourself and keep things fresh!

Plus, trends are always evolving and changing. As they do, you’ll constantly be inspired with innovative, creative ways to do your job. Event planning is definitely a labor of love – in that, you’ll always fall in love over and over again with what you do!

Downside: The hours are long, and can be a bit inconvenient.
One trade-off to not working set, standard work hours is that you don’t always get the same time off as everyone else. As an event planner, each job is going to be time-consuming. At some points, it may feel like you’re eating, breathing, and even sleeping your client’s upcoming event.

On top of that, event planners tend to work around the clock. If you enjoy having your evenings and weekends free, this isn’t the job for you. These are the times when you’ll often find yourself working most. You may not always get holidays off like everyone else either.

For some, this is a deal-breaker. For others, it’s a small sacrifice worth making in order to do what they love! Only you can know for sure which category you fall into.

The world is facing a resurgence in cases — one that is pushing many governments and states to re-introduce containment measures. It feels like we are quickly moving back to square one.

The confidence that was slowly building back local event ecosystems is quickly being replaced by uncertainty. We were hoping for October or November to deliver something that resembles a plan of attack for 2021. If you compute all the feedback, research, and comments we have collected over the past few months, the reality is that no one has the answers to all of them.

We sit to strategize on the way forward and how event entrepreneurs can remain relevant; in the meanwhile, here are a few questions that will shape the future of events:

- Will virtual events deliver enough revenue to make up for the loss of in-person events?

- Will virtual events manage to connect people attending online?

- How long will the stigma of ‘superspreader events’ affect the live event industry?

- When will business and corporate audiences feel comfortable attending events in-person?

- Will hybrid events be the future, or should planners invest only in in-person business?

- How can planners create barriers to entry for virtual events?

- How far will attendees travel to attend events?

- How long will it take to go back to the industry’s level of business in January 2020?

- Will a vaccine work, and how long before the perception of safety is restored?

- Are virtual events just a bubble waiting to burst?

- Will the current generation of event professionals be able to adapt to the new landscape?

- What will be the role of industry associations going forward?

- How will planners deal with the demand for hybrid events and the technological challenges associated with it?

- How will the industry attract talent and entrepreneurship after such a dramatic year?
