Networking, education, and no dues, oh my!
I love my job. I really do. But there are days when I am seriously frustrated with it. The whole world is going digital but I know in my heart of hearts that no one can ever replace face-to-face. It is rare for me to be able to interact with other people who do what I do because we are all like the Great and Powerful Oz... we work behind (trade show) curtains (drapery) and no one ever sees us.
Well, it's time to shift the paradigm. And here's my vision of what that really looks like.
Many trade show professionals work for companies in the North Georgia area but we oftentimes work in silos and don’t get the opportunity to network with like-minded people at other companies. Joining national trade organizations is really not possible for a variety of reasons: the dues are cost prohibitive or the meetings are too infrequent, or worse, bounce all over town.
So, this organization is designed for those who are involved with planning trade shows (and really, all types of event planning) for their respective companies and live and work in North Georgia. Your trade show responsibilities may be combined with other functions including marketing and sales, however, this would not exclude you from membership. (Businesses such as printers, designers, exhibit houses, exhibition services providers, and other such vendors would not be allowed to join but could be sponsors and speakers.)
