I make no secret of the fact that, when it comes to my show, I draw inspiration from other things that I love (most often cinema and music). In this case, cinema. And, on the advice of Michael Caine, I only steal from the best. 😎

When it came time to create artwork for my mentalism show MIND HEIST, I had just a few days to develop something, and I knew I wanted it to feel classic and cinematic. I love simplicity in design, and with “heist” in the title, I knew right away that I wanted the image to reflect the work of the great Saul Bass (the man who changed graphic design), best known for his design of movie posters and title sequences from the 1950s to the 1990s.

I turned to my good friend and amazing graphic designer/artist, Allison Reich Gordon to create the final image. I gave her this Saul Bass-esque Criterion artwork (for their release of Jules Dassin’s RIFIFI) along with a one-sheet from Doug Liman’s MR. AND MRS. SMITH and asked her to mash ‘em up, taking inspiration from the Criterion piece for the overall concept, and the Liman poster for the part of the image that would represent me (incidentally, why I’m holding a staple gun makes sense when you see the show).

She did a masterful job, despite the very crunched timetable I gave her. I absolutely love the end result. If you ever need graphic design work, Allison gets my highest recommendation.

My prediction for March 31st is now securely in the hands of Kevin McKay and 99ROCK.

Kev confirmed receipt of it a couple days ago. I wrote and mailed the prediction on March 22 in an attempt to predict what will occur nearly 10 days later on March 31. It will remain sealed and solely in his possession. On the 31st, I’ll join Kevin in the studio and he will open the sealed letter for the first time and read it on-air…. and we’ll see how I did.

There’s no safety net or backup plan. If my prediction is completely wrong, then we just have some laughs and move on. Like most of my relationships.
