DESTA is proud to launch our Community Pantry and free Monthly Food Workshops!
Located in front of DESTA’s office, in Little Burgundy, the pantry builds upon our existing partnerships with Black-owned farms, cooperatives, and restaurants to provide the community with a steady stream of fresh, healthy foods. It will hold a mixture of donated foods – monthly dry meal packages from our incubator chefs, dry goods, and fresh produce – from restaurants, Sankofa Farming Cooperative, and partnering Black-owned farms.
The Community Pantry program will be accompanied by monthly free cooking workshops provided by DESTA Incubator chef, and owner of Xspencive Cuisine, Jamal Spence. Chef Jamal will use pantry items to create healthy meals, and share culinary skills and techniques.
The first workshop will explore seasonal foods with an interactive demonstration on how to prepare nutrient-rich salads including watercress, arugula, spinach, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, apples, cucumber, melons, herbs, and mushrooms.
📍Join us on September 9, 2024 from 12-2PM at DESTA — 1950 Rue Saint-Antoine O, Montréal, QC H3J 1A5
📢 The Food Pantry will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis
