Rituals have been woven into wedding ceremonies for centuries, offering a meaningful way to honor tradition, culture, or simply create a moment to pause and be present. But rituals aren’t just about the past—they’re also an invitation to reimagine, reinvent, and make them your own.

I’ve had couples exchange fortune cookies with personalized messages instead of rings, symbolizing the surprises and shared destiny of their love story. One couple created a modern take on the Jewish Ketubah, crafting a marriage contract that reflected their unique values and commitments. Another couple had their family surround them in a circle of flowers before the ceremony, creating a powerful symbol of love and support as they stepped into marriage.

I love helping couples find rituals that feel deeply personal—whether that means embracing tradition or dreaming up something entirely new. After all, the most meaningful rituals are the ones that truly reflect you.

Some moments feel so magical, I have to pinch myself to believe this is really my job. Witnessing Shelby and Ryan exchange their vows in the most intimate, love-filled elopement was pure magic. Grateful every day to be part of stories like theirs. Thank you for the kind words .holmies

Why I Love Standing to the Side at Your Ceremony ✨

It’s simple—this moment is about you! My job is to guide the ceremony, not steal the spotlight. By standing to the side, I make space for you to truly connect—holding hands, locking eyes, and sharing this incredible moment.

Plus, there are some practical perks:
💛 Your guests get to see your faces, not just the back of your heads-there’s a natural tendency to turn your face towards the celebrant when they’re standing in between (see photo 2)
📸 Your photos will feel more intimate
👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 You can stand close, hold hands, and be fully present with each other.

Of course, this doesn’t work in every venue or with every ceremony, and I’ll definitely step in when needed—to guide you through the ring exchange, hold the mic for your vows if needed, or hand you a Kleenex when emotions run high. But at the end of the day this is your love story—I’m just here to help tell it. ❤️

Love stories are my passion, and today, I want to share my own. ❤️

A few years ago, some good friends set me up on a blind date. One beer at a local pub and a split-boarding adventure later, I knew I had found someone truly special. It didn’t take long to realize that this was a person I could see myself spending my life with.

Now, he’s not just my husband—he’s the backbone of Alpenglow Ceremonies. From keeping me fed (did I mention he’s a trained chef? 😍) to making sure my car is always full of fuel and handling all the little things that keep our life running smoothly—I couldn’t do this without him.

His love, support, and partnership inspire me daily.

He is the kindest, most generous, and hardworking man I know, and I feel beyond lucky to walk through life with him. ❤️

This Valentine’s Day, I celebrate him—and the beautiful, unique and wonderful love stories I get to witness as a celebrant. 💕
Tell me—what’s your favorite part of your love story? I’d love to hear it! ✨

When love calls, you answer—even in -25°C! 💙❄️ Here I am all bundled up and ready to make some winter wedding magic happen. Who needs a heated chapel when you have a bluebird winter day in the Rockies and long underwear?! 😂🔥

✨Collective Effervescence✨

Something I always remember from my university days was the French sociologist Emile Durkheim’s concept of “collective effervescence”- that powerful energy that arises when people come together, united by shared emotion, meaning, and purpose. This weekend I had the good fortune to get to attend the Eras tour in Vancouver, where I got to be a part of a crowd of 60 000 strangers singing and dancing in unison to their favourite songs… the joy in that stadium felt like it could light up the whole world.

It struck me that this is so similar to what I get to witness at every wedding I officiate. Two people sharing their vows, surrounded by majestic mountains and those who love them the most- the air hums with connection, hope, and celebration.

Whether it’s screaming the words to “All Too Well 10 minute version” or witnessing a love story unfold in real time, these moments remind me why we gather: to honor love, joy, and everything that makes life worth living.

To Taylor, thank you for the reminder that magic exists when we come together. To my couples, thank you for trusting me to help create your own unforgettable moments of connection and synchronicity. 💍💖

What’s been your most unforgettable moment of collective joy? Let me know in the comments! 🌟

I’m so grateful to all my 2024 couples for trusting me with their wedding ceremonies! It was my first summer as a celebrant, and it was truly the most joyful, fun, and fulfilling summer ever ❤️ this next month I’ll be resting up and enjoying time with family before I get busy creating more personalized ceremonies for 2025.

I have been neglecting my social media precense big time 🙈 but the reason is that I have been so busy working with clients “irl” to create their memorable and meaningful wedding ceremonies 🥹. I feel so lucky!!

This summer is shaping up to be so much fun with a mix of hiking elopments, heli weddings, camping weddings, backyard weddings, and huge weddings with all the bells and whistles on the books for Alpenglow ceremonies. I am loving the variety and the personalization of each ceremony. If you’ve been thinking of reaching out, please get in touch. I only have a few more spots open for summer 2024 🥂

In addition to wedding ceremonies, I’ve been offering a variety of community ceremonies over the past year, ceremonies that honour the cyclical nature of life and the seasons of our natural world. These spaces invite us to pause, to reflect, help us honour transitions and make sense of our inner and outer worlds. When we take time for ceremony, we create subtle shifts in our collective consciousness. When we slow down, we allow space for transformation to happen 💫

Alongside two other local women, I have been planning a Winter Solstice Gathering at Star6 Ranch, a 20 minute drive from Canmore. The Winter Solstice is a deeply reflective time, where the nights are long and the earth takes time to rest. At this time we are invited to follow in the earth’s rhythms and slow down, rest and go inwards.

This gathering is an opportunity for us to collectively honour the Winter Solstice, while honouring our own internal slowing down process. At this gathering, we will do some reflective journalling on the past year, create an earth offering, sing around a bonfire and share in a potluck.

Half of the evening will be spent in a wood-warmed yurt and the other half will be spent outside creating an earth offering and singing around a bonfire. With that being said, dress cozy and warm.

People of all genders are welcome. We welcome you to sign up and bring the following with you:

*an open heart

*warm clothes

*a cushion, bolster or mat

*a blanket

*a journal and a pencil

*a potluck item to share

Please note that you must fill out a waiver prior to coming https://tinyurl.com/star6ranchwaiver
