Today is Pastry Day, which makes me think about Christmas cookies. Not only are they an adorable party favor for wedding guests, I come from a family tradition of making more than two dozen KINDS of cookies at the holidays (ok fine, it's just my mom who does that). I have many memories of decorating cookies with her for days at a time. It's funny how much emotion gets bound up with food, isn't it? More than a few couples have told me how important family traditions around food are to their relationships. I love talking about them during ceremonies, because it always makes parents especially tear up. What kind of a role has food (or cookies. just cookies.) played in your relationship?

🎶 On the second day of Christmas, my dear friend gave to me….a gift I never thought I’d get! I had the privilege of marrying my friend Katie last year and mentioned to her that it’s something of an officiant milestone to get a mug like this from your couple.

So when Katie surprised me with this two weeks ago, it made me happy cry. This mug is going to live right here on my desk where I can see it everyday until I’m ready to actually use it. I’m so grateful for friends like Katie 💗
