HERE WE ARE!! The numbers you’ve all been waiting for!!!

From our second annual WA Sheep Expo working dog Auction we had:

11 lots of which 9 sold at an average of $4,477.27c.

Top price dog goes to Tim Bending from Bending Kelpie’s with Bending Emmy selling for $12,000.

Congratulations once again to all our vendors on putting up an impressive catalogue!!

We are already planning to make next years sale bigger and better again so start training those dogs/pups😉 and watch this space

ATTENTION VENDORS!!!

The auction is just about upon us so with that in mind, we thought we’d give you the run down on what’s going to happen on the day:

PRE DEMONSTRATION: there will be a vendors briefing @ 7:45am prior to commencement of demonstrations

Demonstrations will begin at 8 am for the first round, we would like you to be there by 7 in order to register you with the auction committee and provide you with a Lot tag. Please have all necessary documents on hand in case any details need to be confirmed.

After your demo please hang around at the designated marquee for the duration of the next demo in case potential buyers wish to meet you and the dog to get more information.

Second round demo will begin at 10am and the process here will be the same.

The sale will begin not before 1pm.

Shimmy Down's Tanner topped the 2022 WA Sheep Expo Working Dog Auction with an impressive hammer down at 15,900!

Tanner's Vendor, James Carr described Tanner as nothing short of an absolute powerhouse. Tanner had spent the pre sale part of her life helping James on the feedlot, she had reached the point where her ability had exceeded that of being "just a feedlot dog" and she was ready to give someone else the opportunity to add a sensational work mate to their team.

Tanner was snapped up by Kojonup farmer and lamb co-operative WAMMCO chairman Craig Heggaton.

We cannot wait to see you all back here on Friday 18th August 2023! 🥳

🌟🌟 Shimmy Downs TANNER 🌟🌟

Shimmy Down's Tanner topped the WA Sheep Expo Working Dog Auction with an impressive sale of 15,900!

Tanner's Vendor, James Carr described Tanner as nothing short of an absolute powerhouse. Those who attended will agree, it was certainly difficult to not be drawn to Tanner's presence and style during the demonstrations. She was well guided at the hand of James, who bred and trained the 3yr old Kelpie himself.

Tanner has spent this part of her life helping James on the feedlot, she had reached the point where her ability had exceeded that of being "just a feedlot dog" and she was ready to give someone else the opportunity to add a sensational work mate to their team.

Tanner was snapped up by Kojonup farmer and lamb co-operative WAMMCO chairman Craig Heggaton. We offer huge congratulations to both James and Craig and wish them all the best.

And that’s a wrap!! Was a beautiful day in Katanning for the WA Sheep Expo Working Dog auction and it was a strong sale to boot!! To say we’re ecstatic with the result is an understatement!! ATTENTION VENDORS!!!

With the sale being this Friday, we just thought we’d take the opportunity to announce some of the important details to help ensure the day runs smoothly!

-Please arrive at the venue (Katanning Leisure Centre, 4 Pemble Street) via the second gate. This will put you down near the footy oval.

-dogs are to be lodged with the Marshalls between 8am and 8:30am in the shearing pavilion. Here you will be issued with a Lot tag that is to be attached to your dogs collar. They will be housed under constant supervision inside the shed by the Marshalls.

-you are required to supply a collar, lead and a WATER bowl for each dog you are selling.

-demonstrations will be 5 minutes long and you will have the choice of a paddock demo, yard demo or both. You DO NOT need to utilise all 5 minutes if you do not wish to.

-there will be a vendors briefing prior to the demonstrations to further elaborate on these proceedings.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Peter Barr of Barrkel Working Dogs is coming over from South Australia to take part in the auction ( more on that later😉) and has kindly offered to transport some dogs back to South Oz if required by interstate buyers! So if you live in SA or even further afield and were concerned about how you might transport a dog from our auction! Peter may be able to assist you! If you’d like more information about his travel itinerary feel free to contact either myself, Blake Robinson or Pete himself

With a little under 3 weeks to go in the nomination period we are excited to announce we have some very exciting nominations coming in! And YES we are still accepting. We will continue to take nominations right up until closing date which is the 19th of June!

Reminder to all that the auction is to be run in conjunction with the WA Sheep Expo and will be interfaced with AuctionsPlus! This means that all the major players in the sheep industry in WA and indeed the country will be present and looking at your dogs making it a rare opportunity to get premium value for your hound!

So a few people have been asking us some questions about eligibility for the auction so just thought I’d put up a post to answer some FAQ😊.

Our requirements are:

Must be 4 months of age or older AT POINT OF SALE. This means that the nominated dog must be equal to or older than 4 months (16 weeks) on the day of the sale which is August 19th
Must be up to date with all vaccinations and relevant vet work including microchips (this is state law).
You do not need to have your own stud in order to nominate a dog. This auction is for everyone🥳
It is NOT breed specific. We will accept any working stock dog breed provided it displays a good standard of natural ability and is CONTROLLABLE around stock.

The sale WILL be held in conjunction with AuctionsPlus, and there will be a week of pre- bidding.
