Day 28 of my 30 day challenge of dahlias I love to grow on the farm.
Oh… you’re in for a treat! Sam Hopkins is a dark red-burgundy velvety dahlia that is completely irresistible. She is my go to dark dahlia for a “larger bloom”. She is 4-5” with INCREDIBLY long stems. If you want drama, she is your girl. My list of why I grow her is a mile long and for good reason.
All I can say…. Put her on your list of must haves… you will love her.

Update !!! Here is the new Bahama cabana washing station for our dahlias!
We wash here in zone 6 in CT until we are done… I’m not sure when that will be. We started with 438 crates and we have washed and divided and stored 86 of the crates.
We only wash what I can divide in a day. It’s important to keep the “eyes” visible as I divide and sort all the dahlias.
After I divide the tubers dry and heal their cuts for 1-2 days and then they are sorted, labeled and then stored at 38-44 degrees.
