Episode 3 of the Alcohol and Tears (Mostly) Country Radio is a 2020 Holiday Mix of nearly 3 hours of my favorite songs from this year (well, mostly this year). It's dedicated to all the musicians who have helped keep me sane through this very insane year. If you are looking to do any end-of-the-year shopping, links to all of the artists are included on my website.

"The Rambler" is a 1972 concept album by Johnny Cash released on Columbia Records. Big fan of the dialogue tracks in between the songs, and lots of terrific cuts, "No Earthly Good" and "Calilou" are my favorites.

Lots of great cuts on Johnny Cash's "Any Old Wind That Blows" (1973, Columbia) but my fav is his duet with June Carter, "If I Had a Hammer," so much of the album is laid back but that song just rips!

Johnny Cash sings some of country music's most beloved tunes on "Now, There Was a Song!" (1960, Columbia) , many of which are better associated with other artists, but Cash makes them all his own. My favorite is his rendition of George Jones's "Seasons of my heart."

"Show Time" (1969, Sun) claims to be a live album but the audience is all overdubbed over studio recordings. I don't really care, because Cash and the Tennessee Two are hot on these cuts. Love that stripped down trio sound.

Live as hell! Gonna be singing the hits for y’all in the strange place we find ourselves, all dollars to . For those standing up for equality and justice in a system built to keep people poor and engineered to fail, see y’all on here! 🖤🐗🖤

Equality means reform, reform means admitting we can do better. Saying something like “all lives matter” misses the point of what’s happening here: America should be better for everyone, of course all lives matter in a literal sense, but in this moment of our history we’re seeking to confront and reconcile the obvious symptoms of a deeper, more sinister dysfunction in our criminal justice system that demonstrably targets and harms black communities. If we can address this, we have an opportunity for the beginning of true accountability and equity for all BIPOC people in the US, and with that step, the class disparity and lack of opportunity experienced by everyone at the bottom can begin to be addressed. Don’t get conned into fighting for the side of the rich and careless, gluttony will owe you no allegiance. Minorities shouldn’t have to argue for the right to exist.
