What does the activities officer even do? 🌟

To put it briefly... works with societies and sports clubs, represents you, organises different events!

Did you know that... I have worked with societies and sports clubs (while working as the Global Campus Events Coordinator), rebuilt University of Huddersfield Thai Boxing Society and turned it into the largest sports club on campus (in less than a year!), organised different events on and off campus (including massive music festivals, trips, cultural events!) 🌎

Quest 4 - Importance of mental health 🧠

Last but not least, I want to highlight the importance of mental health in societies, sports clubs, events and activities. They can be extremely beneficial, that's why everyone should find a society, club, activity that allows them to socialise, talk to people. I will ensure that there will be a lot communities, that students can participate in to stay active and social.

I will also work on making Mental Health First Aid training available to all students for free, especially the sports clubs, society committees and members. I know that this will help with the wellbeing of students, especially during moments of crisis.

Quest 3 - Professional networking opportunities 💼

Connections are really important! They can help you find a job, progress your career.

I will organise professional networking events for all industries, so you have opportunities to get to know professionals from your field, get inspired and learn from them. Also, networking can help you find your society sponsors! 💪

Quest 2: Recognise and develop e-sports 🎮

Unfortunately, e-sports are really neglected in our university, Students’ Union. This is bad, really bad, as they bring people who share the same passion together, they boost strategic thinking, they can even help you secure scholarships for studying all across the world, jobs, placements and interships. Also, talented players may want to proceed a career in e-sports, so continuing to develop their skills in university, with access to professional coaching, getting to know the industry, its professionals can be a good head start.

I will help expand and strengthen Huddersfield’s e-sports clubs (League of Legends, CS:GO, Rocket League, Valorant… and much more!), give them access to professional coaching, encourage them to participate in competitions, compete in Varsity! At the same time, I will organise gaming events in Huddersfield, such as LAN parties, networking events, conventions and more! 🎮

Fun fact: In 2021, I organised the very first League of Legends tournament of University of Huddersfield 👾

Let’s talk about my quests as your Activities Officer 2022/23! 🗡️

Quest 1: More Free trips and events!

The Huddersfield Students' Union already organises some events and trips, however, this number can definitely be improved. Trips to landmarks, popular spots in the UK, can help international students get familiar with the country, make memories (I know it – I am an international student!). I don’t think home students would be mad about more fun trips either, as who doesn’t want a free shopping trip to London or tickets to a big music festival 🤪

I will also ensure that there is a variety of events for everyone, this includes non-drinking, making-friends events, cultural evenings, networking events and much more!

Will you help me complete this quest?👾

Why should I be the Activities Officer in Huddersfield Students' Union next year?

Well, first, I have lots of experience in similar roles! ✨

During my placement in the International Office last year, I coordinated events of Global societies, worked with international and home students.
I helped create so many amazing events: Global week 2021, Diwali celebration of Huddersfield University's Indian Society , International Mother Language Day of Bangladeshi Student Society-University of Huddersfield, Conversation Nights with University of Huddersfield Japanese Student Society, University of Huddersfield Italian Student Society and much more!

Also, you probably already know that I am the president of University of Huddersfield Thai Boxing Society this year. And that’s going absolutely amazing! We are currently organising something that has never been done before – our own fight show, where we will fight other universities’ fighters! 🥊

And… I’ve been, worked, volunteered in so many events that I know planning activities, organising events is what I love and am made for! 💪

Hi, I am Elze and I am running for Activities Officer in Huddersfield Students' Union 2022/23!

You might know me from the Thai boxing sports club University of Huddersfield Thai Boxing Society , which I have been running for a whole year and love every second of it! (Especially getting punched in the face 😂)

Or you might know me from my fun time as Global Campus Events Coordinator in 2021/2022, where I worked with Global societies, got to know so many different cultures, met lots of lovely people who are now my friends for life 🌎

I have so many plans for next year, as the Activities Officer, but only you can make them come true – by voting for me! Keep an eye on this page, as this is where I will be sharing my ideas. I’d absolutely love to hear yours too! 🎮
