The St. Andrews Music Festival is a big part of Mardi Gras in the Redneck Riviera. It’s the most popular and largest Mardi Gras celebration in Panama City were over a dozen krewe's for all over Florida's panhandle to roll with multiple brightly colored floats. While the parade is happening you'll enjoy the sounds of festive music being played along the route, where tens of thousands of beads and doubloons are tossed to the crowd of over 50,000 people. Gasparilla originated from the myth of Jose Gaspar and his invasion of Tampa. In Mardi Gras fashion, Gasparilla’s pirate ships travel through the bay, throwing out beads and other goodies to the spectators. Reaching their destination at the Convention Center, the main pirate ship will force the mayor to “surrender” the key city and a weekend full of plunder begins.
