As a .aroma chef & W/Out Walls Host, it was a great pleasure to throw a surprise party for MH Resident . Celebrating community members and leaders alike is an activity we honor in recognition of the contributions these individuals make. On this particular occasion, we sought light amidst the inescapable darkness we’ve been battling since October 7th. We are friends. We are community members. We are community leaders.

On this event, I’d like to give credit to & for lending a hand in the kitchen. Thank you for assisting in executing my vision and paying respect to tradition. Of course, our thanks are also directed to for granting us the space to throw this party and, importantly, the space to not only present our dishes but to cook; on the marble island, where the magic happens.

Thank you to all of those who attended this party and cooperating in adhering to some kitchen rules while cooking live. We were all a team in making this happen. Stay tuned for more events!

My turned 1 on Saturday, where I threw them a b-day party & a Halloween Havdallah for my Jewish community members. In a time of increased anxiety and frustration over the crises in Israel, it didn’t feel fulfilling to me to host a mere Halloween party. On the other hand hand, I was not looking for an event to trigger people emotionally; especially after having just hosted a vigil recently. Therefore, combining Havdallah and Halloween in a thoughtful way provided some sort of middle ground to tackle this paradox. Taking the concept of “Vesamim” (smelling spices to symbolize waking up to the new week after resting on Shabbat, I pinched a clementine with cloves. This way I embraced inspirational elements from Halloween, Judaism, and Iraqi culture. It was my version of Vesamim for Halloween: orange and aromatic enough. A reel will be released soon with more pictures of meaningful activities & details. Stay tuned! Thank you for supporting local hosts providing a safe space for our community members to reflect and unite. .aroma’S table & kitchen feature plates, knives. Thanks for providing tools to help hosts & chef like myself be creative with their invites.

Thank you for those who attended the tea vigil on Wednesday. It was lovely having you among other guests who came in groups. Hope you enjoyed the tea, desserts, and playing with the kittens. I made a short reel of that night and it's posited on .Aroma. Please follow to keep updates about my events now that my community is growing and, as much as I'd love to invite everyone of you personally, it becomes a little hard to keep track. Shabbat shalom! 🤍

Because of how much guests liked this challah, I wanted to appreciate it in a post by itself, instead of dumping it along pictures of food from last Shabbat’s dinner. Saying the Hamotzi blessing in my tree-filled courtyard made the experience more earthy as we breath the fresh air and look at the sky around set. Serving this challah in the courtyard wasn’t the only “new” thing about this dinner. In fact, it was also my first time cutting it using a bread knife from ’ luxurious knife set. Challah braids include: Poppy & sesame seeds on both ends while leaving the middle part plain. 🕯️ 🍞

Hello/Selam/Shalom! Welcome to Mesopotamian Aroma! From an anthropological approach, aims to create a modern recreation of Babylonian-to-contemporary era cooking in two folds. First, to preserve an ancient legacy by utilizing a translated version of a 4000-year old cuneiform tablet that is know to be the oldest cook book in history according to the Yale Babylonian Collection. Second, to revive Iraqi Jewish recipes while archiving (and learning from the) collective memory of Iraqi Jews through digital storytelling. Considering the historical value of most of what we cater, it is our responsibility to present the best version of our work, in theory, concept, and taste. Mesopotamian Aroma prides itself in reflecting the history, cultures, and civilizations of ancient Iraq through cuisine. Besides inventing intelligent irrigation and harvest systems in the Lush Mesopotamian lands of Iraq, the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Assyrians also contributed to humanity through the invention of writing script, wheel, pottery, etc. With a focus on celebrating the legacy of now forgotten, less commonly known dishes of Iraq's ethno-religious groups, I dedicate special interest in Iraqi Jewish foods and holidays. This will be reflected in some of the dishes I cook, events I host, and holidays I celebrate. ✡️✝️☪️
