Let’s talk first look - should we do a first look? Or, do we want to see each other for the first time at the ceremony?

Things to think about:
1. How important is it to attend cocktail hour and get extra time to mingle with our guests? The main benefit of doing a first look is being able to knock out lots of newlywed, wedding party and family photos before the ceremony, so the bride and groom can relish in their event in it’s entirety.
2. If we choose to opt-out of a first look - will we be super nervous leading up the ceremony? Hear me out - I am not opposed to no first look, but we definitely notice an uptick in nerves (and excitement!!!!) for the bride and groom when ceremony is about to start and they haven’t seen each other. First looks are great because it’s a way to see each other, and bring down the nerves a bit before such an important moment - the ceremony in front of your friends and family!
3. If you’re wanting to read vows personally, especially if they’re personal to you + your fiancé (not your typical wedding vows), but are reluctant to express your love in front of 100+ people - during your first look is a incredibly private moment to do so. When my clients choose to do a first look, I kindly ask only the photographer and videographer to be present, so it’s truly an intimate, sacred and private moment.

At the end of the day - the bride and groom should do what they want! If that’s seeing eachother the morning of the wedding, staying the night before together, doing a first look, or waiting until ceremony to see each other - make sure to stay true to what you both think makes the most sense to y’all as a couple 🤍

I’m trying to dedicate more time to keeping my social media up to date. I thought it would be fun to add in pictures of my own personal wedding, and give a brief rundown of what it was like being the bride, not just the planner!

I’ve always known how important the timeline of a wedding day is. As I was taught early on, a timeline should be the planner’s “bread and butter” - which stands true. I take hours upon hours curating my timelines, coordinating with each vendor, layering vendor arrival times, etc.! Something that I genuinely never fully understood (transparency here!) until I was a bride - was the IMPORTANCE of having time that morning to just “chill”. Yes, a wedding day may be hectic, but it can also be calm, cool, collected and FUN. Having this time with my girls and my mom + MIL is one of manyyy favorite memories to look back on. These moments were captured so effortlessly - true candid moments. I was so filled with love, and appreciate this time more than I can put into words.

Being the planner and the bride definitely had its challenges but it also taught me a lot. One lesson being the utter importance of leaving some space throughout the wedding day to just relax. Take a deep breath. Belly laugh with your friends and family. Check in with yourself.

Never afraid of some pattern play - we did a table mockup of this design before the day-of ex*****on and it was so reassuring to see so many elements tie in so seamlessly. So many of us think we can only bring in one pattern, or one color, when in reality there are so many fun, unique ways to mix and match. Always thinking outside of the box - playing with all the things.. patterns, colors, textures.
