In November, we had the incredible honor of providing our photo booth services at Venue Bouchon for a truly heartwarming Wish Upon A Wedding celebration. 💍💖 Seeing the joy, love, and unforgettable moments shared by everyone reminded us of why we love what we do!

We are delighted to share the story of one of our high school students, let's call him Tim. When Tim's family came to SHIP, they had been moving around for years. Sometimes they slept in a shelter, other times they slept in the park. As a result, Tim had not been attending school and faced many barriers before he felt comfortable going back. One of those barriers was his appearance, Tim had not been to a hair dresser in many years.

SHIP's New Horizons team partnered with The Temple to provide a full wash, cut, and style for Tim. It took over 4 hours, but at the end of the appointment, Tim was looking and feeling great! He is enrolled in school and has been attending regularly. He is also applying and interviewing for jobs, who will now be able to consider hiring him with an appropriate work appearance.

You may have noticed the SHIP boxes placed in businesses throughout the county collecting hygiene items for our students. One of the many reasons a student experiencing homelessness might stop attending school is a lack of ability to maintain proper hygiene. Being able to provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other hygiene products to our students is one of the easiest ways to eliminate a barrier and keep them connected to education.
