After a couple years, we have decided to change our name to Katamakw Films. What is Katamakw? Being First Nations Canadian I wanted to incorporate language revitalisation into my business, as it is something very important to me. Kata’makw means ‘picture’ in Kwakwala. It derives from the Kwakwaka’wakw people of Yalis (Alert Bay), British Columbia. A few years ago I found out that there are only approx 200 fluent speakers left. It’s one of my goals to change this.
