Hey Party people, last minute reminder that tonight we have the amazing DJ Delay (from Melbourne via Berlin) along with live video by local masters Twin Stars!!!!
We've been following this cat (and all his various personas) since back in the day! Delay, who started his career in Melbourne Australia and now lives in Berlin makes amazing compositions that are as layered and nuanced as they are funky and fun. Fluidly moving between Dub, Balkan, hip-hop and middle eastern influences, his tracks always slam. For the uninitiated, peep this Balkan inspired release called Brass, Wires & Bass from a few years back. A classic album that is easily one of the best of the genre.

IT'S ON!! - Norway's Sprutbass will be playing at Beat Research on Tuesday with DJ Supersquirrel! He'd be the first Skweee artist to play in Boston and is one the dopest. For those unfamiliar with this new Skandanavian style (where retro synths meets future funk) than get ready to have your mind blown! + Supersquirrel always brings those ill genre blends that drive us nuts!

One of my favorite producers of all time (Kiddid) is coming through BR tonight, with his new project Ekip Ritual - a collaboration with the wonderful Brazilian vocalist Massarock. My cohost Wayne and Wax has a great post about on his blog complete with sound files and pics

Ekip Ritual is an ongoing collaboration between “nordestino” electro-percussion wiz, Kiddid, and Brazilian reggae/alt-pop vocalist Massarock. Drawing on soundsystem culture, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and pop music sensibilities, the duo ride the “global bass” wave with aplomb.
Wicked psyched for Trislam to rock BR tonight - He'll be bringing crates of rare vinyl that he picked up on his travels in Columbia along with his own mini pico sound system box which he had shipped from the town Soledad Atlantico on the Carribean coast all the way to his apartment in Dorchester - and to the Good Life tonight (where the beautifully painted replica will be augmented with our extra heavy subs) Prepare to get schooled on the rich history of South American dance music where traditional Cumbia melodies collide with the energy of Cuban and African rhythms.
Also props to A Stack of Dusty Records and Elevatorman for bringing the party last week. Tim (ASODR) brought the obscure electro and disco tracks that only an owner of a large and revered used record store can find and Josh (EM) rocked the dubby 2-step beats that I can never seem to get enough of.
De Qualia and his man shvlfce really brought the dance party last week - great sounds and vibes all around!
Our man Mo Nunez (aka Mosart212) will be coming through town tomorrow night to drop some science at Beat Research. He send me an email looking for help deciding which type of set to drop "a set that's real dubby, trippy, bangs around 75-85 bpms... another thats funky and in the 90's for bpm and groove, and finally one... that comes in at 115 and is more old school gems like prince, talking heads, ultramag mcs, some remixes i made... " Of course I was like damn that all sounds sick, so I think he will do a little of each. Either way its gonna be crazy as this cat knows how to rock the crazy blends - can't wait!!!
It's going to be mad cold tonight- luckily our old friend, the amazing DJ Iriela, will be coming to town tonight to warm us all up with some heavy bass and good vibes that only she can bring. Can't wait!
Damn Frankster killed it last night! - the way he triggers all his parts though his sit down electronic kit is still one of the most effective ways I have seen anybody solve the conundrum of "live" electronic music.
