Welcome to Friendly Friday…on Saturday…because let’s be real. We all know I won’t manage this every Friday. 😂
First topic for Friendly Friday. BUDGET. This is where I see the most mistakes made. Tip from me to you? Set your budget IMMEDIATELY. Talk to whoever is financially contributing to your wedding and get some real, solid numbers. No guesswork.
One of the first questions I ask brides at initial meetings - what are the top 3 priorities for your wedding day? Is it photos? Venue? Florals? Food? From there I can make recommendations to help you in the budget department as much as possible.
Sit down with your fiancé and have those discussions. Which things are super important to you? Which things aren’t?
One of the biggest ways to minimize a budget is the number of guests. If you want to feed 500 guests, what other areas you can minimize in order to budget more for food?
Ask your vendors! Tell them your priorities and ask for their advice!
Setting realistic priorities from the start will serve you so well as you work toward the most important priority of all - a marriage. All too often I see the stress of finances overshadow the joys of wedding prep. Don’t let this be you!

This picture keeps leaping out at me.
Is it because I’ve been tediously working on a blog for two days? Is it because blogging is beyond me and this place looks peaceful? Is it because I’ve deleted what I’ve done TWICE? Is it because the simplicity stands out? Is it because my precious 10mo keeps crawling on me and making my screen jump to weird places? We’ll never know 🤷🏼♀️
Regardless - I’m learning a lot, this photo is stunning, and it just might be my new desktop background. 🤗

Hi, hello! As I dip my toe back in the media world (😅) and gain some new online friends, I figured it was time to re-introduce myself.
I’m Makenzie - owner of Wild Ridge Designs. I tripped and fell into this industry 7 years ago and I’ve never been so thankful for a stumble in my life. 🤍
My good-lookin hubby is my most frequent assistant and hero at weddings. While I take care of you he takes care of me! I quite genuinely could not do what I do without him. 🥰 Our sweet babe will be 1 in February and it’s been the fastest year of our lives! She is pure smiles and sass and we couldn’t love her more.
I’ve spent the past several days organizing my memories, reliving ceremonies, flashing back to dance parties, and desperately trying to document over 100 weddings. It has been such an honor to walk alongside so many of you.
My 2022 goal —> document better. 🤞🏼
My ‘22 calendar is nearly full and I’m humbled by so many sweet brides trusting me with their day. I am STOKED for the days to come! Looking forward to meeting many more of you through this tech-savvy world we live in!! 🥳
