The London International TX1 was originally designed by product designer Kenneth Grange and was put in to production to replace the historic Austin FX4 in 1997.
From a young age I have always wanted to own a London Taxi due to its nostalgia and modern take on the FX4. Whilst this is a modern take on an old classic, it remains a classic in its own right.
Famous for its tight turning circle for negotiating tight turns of narrow London streets it is steeped in history and nostalgia from simple design considerations to its most familiar recognition as an icon in the countries Capital city.
Whilst I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with my TX1 when I purchased it, I have decided to share my passion using Rosie as a wedding car and a classic at that!
From its curvy lines to spacious interior it’s something anyone can appreciate and far different from so many wedding cars available on the market.
Rosie has been through a rigid body up restoration and is finished in Candy Red. Whilst she can sport any colour of ribbons according to client taste, she looks amazing in cream/off white ribbons.
With a car of this age you never stop making sympathetic alterations and Rosie will be going in to the upholsterers to have the seats reupholstered in a classic pleated finish adding a touch of luxury whilst maintaining the classic taxi look.
Rosie still holds her original taxi number on the inside of the rear door.
Some of her fond attributes are –
The ability to carry five passengers Wide opening doors that can be released to open at 90 degrees to give full access for a wider dressAccess ramp for passengers with mobility issues
So whether you are the Bride, the Groom, the Best Men, Maid of Honour, Bridesmaids or family of the bridal party, you can be sure you will arrive on time, in style and most of all with a smile on your face from the nostalgia encapsulated within this wonderful little car.
