Last Sunday, we hung out with Jamie Does Hair at Triple J Ranch Events and watched her work ✨️magic✨️ with hairstyling! These vendors let their work do the talking, but it's cool to know a bit about them, right? So, we decided to do a quick Q&A session to get the scoop 🤔
▫️When and why did you decide to start your own business? “I booked my first wedding in 2002 as a highschool student and from there I promoted word-of-mouth. Before I ventured into entrepreneurship, I was a licensed PTA for SJRMC until 2015 when my sister saw my passion for hairstyling then encouraged me to get serious and start a website."
▫️Are there any fears you have when styling hair? “My only fear is when the client does not let me know if they are not satisfied with their hair. I want them to feel beautiful and confident in the hairstyle they choose and if they want me to change it or redo it, I will 🥰"
▫️In this industry what is one of the biggest differences you see now versus when you first started? “Back in 2002, everyone wanted clean, sleek, and no hairs flying but today everyone loves the effortless, wispy “boho” look, which I also love.”
▫️What are some pros and cons in the industry? “Pros: Working for myself. Cons: No cons, it is the best day of their life and I get to play a role in it. But, I guess one would be that sometimes I have to turn people down because I am already booked 😒”
▫️How have you grown personally from becoming an entrepreneur? “I used to be an introvert but being around people has forced me out of my shell and now it’s not much of a deal.”
▫️What advice would you give someone who wants to venture into the hairstyling business? “Get insurance, don’t wear heels, and watch your posture. You don’t want to be hunched when someone takes your picture 🤪"
