Thank you to all who made Gaslight Gathering Athenium a success. This could not be accomplished without the hard work and dedication of our staff, our entertainers, our guests, our vendors and of course to all who attended. However, as we were discussing any possible plans for Gaslight Gathering X during the con feedback a message was picked up both on the Morning Star and the Starburner’s site. It took the skills of Robert Louis Stevenson to translate it for it was in a language he understood.
Transmission begins: “By the Powers and swoggle me eyes! A Cornu Chi were discovered by the Starburner Galactic Courier Service, why do we not have it? There should be only one group to claim mastery o’ the skies so I be calling on the rest o’ me Brethren who follow the Black Flag and we will plunder it fer ourselves. Then the Gaslight Gathering will know that the “X” marks the spot as the Rise of the Airship Pirates sets down on them.” Transmission Ends.

Gaslight Gathering Harassment and Discrimination Policy

Discrimination (based on, but not limited to, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical/mental disability) is not tolerated. Harassment of any kind — including, but not limited to, unwanted attention, inappropriate physical contact, and verbal abuse — is not tolerated. If someone tells you “no” or asks you to leave them alone, your business with them is done.
If you feel that you are being discriminated against or harassed, or if you notice someone behaving inappropriately (such as violating hotel or convention policies), we respectfully suggest the following: If you feel comfortable doing so, point out the inappropriate behavior to the person(s) involved; often this will solve the problem immediately. If you do not feel comfortable talking with the person(s) involved, or if talking to them does not resolve the issue, please report the situation immediately to any convention staff member, or to hotel security who will help you make contact with convention staff. In the case of harassment at an open party, you may also report the issue to the party host.
When making any report it would be extremely helpful if you could provide a name and/or physical description of the person(s) involved. Please remember that we need to know about any incidents during the event in order to take action.
Gaslight Gathering reserves the right to revoke the membership of anyone failing to conform to the letter and spirit of these policies, those of our hotel, and the laws of the City of San Diego and the State of California.

The California Association for the Advancement of Speculative Media, Inc. (C.A.A.S.M.) is an IRS 501(c)3 tax exempt non-profit corporation. Its purpose is to promote an interest in the speculative fiction media (science fiction and fantasy), and provide opportunities to educate and broaden public awareness of this genre. Gaslight Gathering is run under the auspices of C.A.A.S.M. in partial fulfillment of that purpose.
