I just NEED things to be symmetrical. I exorcise these demons in my work and sometimes, I’m able to resist the compulsion to photoshop my work to oblivion. This is one of those times! I’m so proud of myself for being restrained and letting go of the obsession to make everything what I consider to be “perfect” and partnering with the light rather than trying to control it.

When Naomi sent the inspiration photos for her and Ben’s Orlando courthouse elopement, I was cautiously excited. It’s not uncommon to get inspiration pics and then the couple are styled nothing like the people in the photos.

So when their inspo had the bride in a 1920’s veil, I didn’t expect that Naomi would show up that way but she totally did and she ROCKED it.

Naomi’s drama friend designed the veil and, like a main character, it really made the whole shoot so utterly fantastic.

I don’t care what anyone says. Golden hour will always be prime time to get photos like these.

Photographers have been predicting trends for 2025 and among them are the death of shallow depth of field with creamy bokeh in favor of shots with everything in focus and golden hour is apparently out too. I can get on board with pumping up those f/stops but you will. not. take. my. golden. hour.

I think golden hour can go a couple of different ways. It can be utilized as a way to get dreamy sunbeams and light leaks or, like in this set of photos, it can be used to create hard shadows and edge. That’s how I like to use golden hour.

I was so happy to spend an hour with this family having fun on their Florida vacation. It all came up pretty last minute when they saw another family having a photo session during their week on vacation. So they looked for a photographer of their own and, I guess since I’ve shot there before, Google gave them my site (thanks Google!) and we worked something out.⁠

Marisel & Jorlyn were my 135th courthouse wedding at the downtown Orlando courthouse. When I say she was excited for their session, she was SO EXCITED. We had many emails back and forth between the day she booked and shoot day.

It was great to be able to take their pictures inside the “Bank of America Building” on Orange Ave. It used to be the location of Dovecote restaurant and so I did a lot of photos there then. ⁠

Now, security doesn’t allow me to shoot inside but Yamile works there and seems to be well liked because they were very happy for us to cool off and take some photos there!

What You Need To Know

You may spend years and many thousands of dollars planning your wedding and it goes by in 12 hours like any other day. The only one who can make that day last forever is your photographer. I capture the story of your day from beginning to end so you can keep it close to your heart forever.

With a photojournalistic style and a fly-on-the-wall approach, I capture every laugh, every tear, every pre-10am drink.

Couples regularly comment that they can’t believe the photos I got even though they didn’t see me taking them. During the day, we go somewhere special for a short private session. This gives you time to breathe and be alone for a moment and allows us to get images free from other cameras. Then, I shoot the reception leading up to the first dance and fade into the night, leaving you partying with your nearest & dearest.

I’m Elizabeth Halford. Gracie May is my little girl. I’ve been photographing weddings since 2008 when I shot my first wedding on a borrowed camera. I’m not the photographer for everyone. I will never tell your child to say cheese. I don’t need many lavish words to convince you that I’m smitten with photography – I hope you can see that in my work.
