Your wedding party and the joy of having your loved ones by your side are truly priceless💫 If you’re debating having your wedding party (WP)stand or sit during the ceremony, this one’s for you!
Before deciding if the WP should stand or sit, consider the following:
-What is the ideal length of your ceremony? If you’re unsure, go over the script with your officiant to get an idea. Be sure to include walking time for the processional and recessional.
-How much space is available for the number of people you want to stand?
-Will those standing be seen from the POV of your photographer/videographer?
🌷
After asking yourself the questions above, here is how to proceed with your WP standing and then being seated with the rest of the guests.
STEPS (for WP only):
Arrange the wedding party by pair or single file. Keep in mind the order should reflect how they stand, those furthest from the couple go first.
With the music cued, send the first pair down the aisle. They walk up and fan out to the sides, creating a semi-circle until the couple arrives.
With everyone standing, once the couple is together at the altar, the officiant will ask for everyone to be seated. This is the moment to adjust the dress and take the bouquet.
Those on the end will lead their side to the second row. Reserved seat signs will be in place designated for each member in the wedding party.
After the couple kisses and is announced, the wedding party will stand back up and return to the front. With the music going, the bouquet is passed back and the couple begins their walk down the aisle.
Once the couple reaches the end, the closest pairs to the couple follow in suit, then by the first row, and finally the officiant.
Plan to rehearse the day before for an unforgettable ceremony!
