Our last week flowering up in Muskoka before the big fall rush sets in. September/October are two of the busiest months in the industry and let me tell you we have some seriously beautiful weddings on the horizon. Catch you on the flip side dear friends 🙃 Photo .studios
Hey all! Sorry for the radio silence this past week. We had a house full of florists at our Northern Studio working on a wedding in Muskoka, Collingwood and Elora (we really made our rounds!) It was a bit of a florist summer camp filled with Jenga and group meals. Excited to be back in the North this week working on an actual summer camp wedding. Stay tuned. Photo Planning
Hey all! We are working on our *consulting* packages and course content. This is your time to share with us what you have been wanting to learn when it comes to the ins-and-outs of owning a floral design business. With almost 7 years in business and 17 years of floral design experience, we have got you covered. See our stories to let us know if anything has been boggling your mind as a floral business owner.
Some wild aisle decor inspiration. So glad that colourful weddings are trending. Planning
WOW, thank you so much to everyone who sent such loving words with our big announcement yesterday. Floored by your support and encouragement. Now I just have to dig my heels in and make it happen. Our new website will be launching shortly and there will be lots more info about our studio share and consulting then. Until that happens, here is a photo of one of my all time fave bouquets by from a very special Muskoka wedding with .
Maybe it’s a little early to share. Maybe it’s best to hold it in and wait for a grand reveal. But, I think there is also something really beautiful and real about the process. And let me tell you, it has been a long process with many of deep thoughts. Sometimes with big decisions, you just need to wait for the universe to give you a sign that the timing it is right. With Venus in Leo and Jupier in Aries, I figured today is as good of a sign as any. So with this being said, I am going to let you in on the biggest shift in our business model since we opened almost 7 years ago. I hope you enjoy being a part of this story and how it will unravel as it is still just a seed that is growing (well maybe more of a sprout at this point.)
There is a mix of emotions as our lead designer parts ways with H&G and begins a new journey of her own. Blaire and I have been working together for almost 8 years and have been through so much as designers and close friends. I am so grateful for her time with us and for all of the beauty she has created for our clients throughout the years.
A shift for H&G has been coming for quite some time and sometimes the universe provides a catalyst to set thoughts into actions. After being a florist for 17 years, it is time to slow down and re-connect with the process of floral design as art. As an artist, what I enjoy most is executing weddings from beginning to end. Putting everything I have into each piece, no matter how big or small. Taking my time with each flower, colour moment and sculptural element. So what does this mean? Going forward, we will be taking on 65% less weddings than we have been in the past years of business.
This may seem wild, but if you know the industry, you know it is not easy on the body and sometimes when you are in high production mode, you loose sight of being that artist. I am very excited about this big change, what it will bring to our clients (who will receive the utmost care in their designs), how it will bring me fulfillment/peace and the space it creates for other ventures that I have had up my sleeve for quite some time.
Read on below about our new ventures. Photo
There are SO many changes going down right now, it’s hard to keep my head straight. Will need some down time to corral all of these wild ideas of mine but I promise it will come soon enough once clarity is found. Until then, here is a really pretty citrusy wedding from Muskoka with
