Fred Monk, hailing from Newcastle, Kwa-Zulu Natal, relocated to Johannesburg to refine his musical skills. Since 2012, he has delved into eclectic sounds and developed a strong affinity for underground music, adding deejaying to his repertoire in 2014. Known for his deep, dark sound with rich bass and chords, Fred’s work resonates within deep house and techno. His debut EP, Down Low State, on DeepStitched Records marked his entry into the industry, and he is now an exclusive artist with both dO it nOw Recordings and DeepStitched Records. Next up, we have the man himself Byron Ashley
Byron Ashley, also known as Busik, embodies the essence of “Local Is Lekka” within the South African music landscape. With over 13 years of immersion in the country’s electronic music scene, he’s deeply rooted in its underground clubs and culture, now fully dedicated to the local deep house movement.
As one of the label heads and A&R executives at DHSA RECORD LABEL (Deep House South Africa),
Byron shapes the direction of the label while curating lineups for the renowned event “Deep Town Jozi.” His talent recently earned him a residency on Metro FM’s UrbanBeat show alongside Ryan The Dj & Roxpaperscissors, further solidifying his influence in the industry.
Byron’s contributions extend beyond the decks and the studio; he is a driving force behind the growth and evolution of South Africa’s deep house scene, continually pushing boundaries and championing local talent.
