It's been a hectic week. I had an emergency trip to Perth for family reasons, meaning I had to miss the wedding rehersal for this couple.

My wonderful husband ran it instead (with a detailed list of things to check) and gave me a thorough briefing. A++ for the understudy!

I then spent two days in Auckland for my day job, before flying back the morning of to officiate this wedding - it was important for me to make it and do their ceremony justice as they are dear friends!

Not only were they so gracious about the logistical challenges, but they gave me this wonderful mug. I will sip from it with Pride 🏳️‍🌈

Crafting a wedding ceremony that honours and involves Norse Pagan traditions is quite unusual in modern times, so I considered it a huge honor to officiate my sister's wedding ceremony amidst the enchanting backdrop of a picturesque farm.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature, we celebrated their love with ancient rituals, invoking the spirits of the land and embracing the timeless connection between love and the earth.

Surprise wedding! 🎉💒💐
I recently officiated the surprise wedding of my own BROTHER to his now lovely wife at their "engagement party". It was so much fun!

It's super easy to write a ceremony for people you know well but super hard to perform it - I am always so nervous. But it was a gorgeous day and everyone had an awesome time - plus, I've got a new sister!

Christchurch is a small place - it's such an honour to be involved with weddings where you start out almost-kind-of-already knowing each other, because you have so many connections in common. 🥰 And now we do know each other!

Congratulations Leah and Gareth, what an amazing day for an awesome couple!

One of my recent couples dropped off this gift (not a requirement!) - which is super lovely of them. 😍

Many couples come to me via references from friends and I find that we vibe on a personal level - what can I say, my friends have good taste in friends!

But having built a strong rapport makes it that much more special when I'm then part of their wedding day. 💒

COVID is a tricky one to navigate around. As part of planning a ceremony, I'll always ask you what your contingency plans are for each alert level. It's worth having this conversation up front.

Plus, I offer free rescheduling due to COVID - provided the new date does not clash with any other bookings!

Every alert level announcement means a new set of tricky discussions for those in the wedding industry under level 3, and they're keen for more Government direction.

Recently I was super lucky to marry my brother-in-law to my new sister-in-law. One of the things I loved was how they wove tikanga Māori into their ceremony, and increasingly couples are wanting to engage with the traditions of their ancestors. What traditions are important to you and your whānau?

Coronavirus has definitely done a number on the wedding industry. Here's a look at alternatives couples are turning to when the ability to have gatherings and larger ceremonies are up in the air.
