Well deserved Lynn Jayne - 🎉

The USHJA Foundation began presenting the Meritorious Medal of Service in 2009. Each year the USHJA Foundation president has the honor of presenting this award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Foundation and the hunter jumper industry. Winners have included: Peter Wetherill, Jennifer Burger, Geoff Teal, Louise Serio, Bill Moroney, Jennifer Smith, and Charlie Moorcroft.
This year’s recipient, like those before, truly epitomizes the spirit of this award, demonstrating a commitment to the Foundation’s vision and tremendous leadership in achieving that vision. This person dedicated time, resources and passion to the betterment of the Foundation and personally encouraged individuals facing difficult situations to seek the help they needed. Her leadership brought the Foundation from a fledgling idea to the exceptional organization it is today. She is a leader, a supporter and a tremendous asset to the Foundation. Congratulations to the 2016 recipient of the USHJA Foundation’s Meritorious Medal of Service: Lynn Jayne.
As many of you know, Lynn served as the very first president of the USHJA Foundation. From its date of establishment in 2007 to its initial activity in 2008, she was integral to laying the groundwork for the organization. Over the next eight years, she worked tirelessly leading the effort to grow the capacity and impact of the organization. Today, its support for the educational programs of the USHJA, coupled with the numerous grant programs, like the Making a Dream, Horseman’s Assistance Fund and Gochman Family Grant for US Pony Finals, as well as the new $25,000 Hamel Family Scholarship for Further Education, are inspiring, and Lynn’s incredible dedication and leadership made this possible.
She’s not one to back down from a challenge, and with grace and kindness, she led this organization to great heights. Even as she closed out her presidency at the end of 2015, Lynn has continued on as an active Board member, sharing guidance to ease the transition and allow for continuity.
Many times, Lynn has recognized the enormous contributions of others through this award, all while giving so much of herself and her passion to the organization. It’s truly an honor to recognize her with the award she initiated in 2009.
Lynn, thank you for all you have done and continue to do for the Foundation. We wouldn’t be here without you… Thank you.

The Chicago Hunter Derby, presented by CP opened Friday with a win for the Derby's own Carl Weeden, but for Weeden, winning isn't the best part:

"Really to me, the most fun part about being here is watching these other riders out on that field. Obviously when you have a horse like Corvine, it’s super fun to ride around out there; I love riding him, but it’s just as much fun to see others out there as well."
