بداية مائدة الرحمن كانت في عصر الخليفة الفاطمي العزيز بالله لإفطار أهل جامع عمرو بن العاص..و كانت تسمي وقتها دار الفطرة.
كان يخرج من مطبخ قصر الخليفة يومياً ١١٠٠ طبق يومياً لتوزيعه علي الفقراء و المحتاجين ..
جرت العادة وقتها أن يجلس الخليفة أمام إحدي شرفات القصر لسماع القرآن و حلقات الذكر حتي يحين وقت السحور ،فيتم توزيع السحور في نفس مكان الإفطار و من قبله يتم توزيع الهدايا في شوارع القاهرة علي المحتاجين .
و من ساعتها و أصبحت موائد الرحمن عادة رمضانية دافئة تعم شوارع المحروسة في شهر رمضان كل عام.

كنت تعرف قبل كده ايه الأصل ورا إستخدام الفوانيس كرمز للاحتفال بشهر رمضان ؟
بدأت الحكاية يوم ٥ رمضان ٣٥٨ هجرياً ..خرج الأطفال و الكبار حاملين الفوانيس الملونة لاستقبال الخليفة المعز لدين الله الفاطمي بالقاهرة بعد عودته ليلاً من بلاد الغرب و من ساعتها و أرتبطت رمز الفانوس برمضان في مصر و أنتقلت العادة لمعظم البلاد العربية.

هنا لا وجود للمسافات البينية التي تفرضها قوانين الردود الجانبي، 'اتصال' شمل المجاورين من الاحياء و الأموات علي حد سواء، فتداخلت الشرفات مع مدخل الجامع وأشرفت وحدات الاضاءه السماوية علي شواهد القبور.

فن التنورة... رقصات روحانية يرتفع بها القلب والوجدان والجسد من الأرض إلى السماء
ظهر في مطلع القرن الثالث عشر الميلادي، دائما ما تأتي متبوعا بإيقاعات الذكر والمديح والمواويل الشعبية، ابتكرها جلال الدين الرومي ليحيي بها ليالي الذكر في التكية التي أنشأها لاستقبال الفقراء
والغرباء وعابري السبيل والدراويش

The building materials are natural, local and recyclable … all building tectonics capitalize on traditional expertise … using animal remains for oven fuel reduces reliance of fossil resources … the oven walls are built of mud to reduce thermal emission and fuel consumption … home-made bakery primarily relies on locally grown grains … and last, serving the food in the central courtyard turns to be a conventional family celebration in a more plausible micro-climate.

بحثنا عن أصل فنجان القهوة وتاريخ نشأة مقاهي القاهرة وتحديدا منطقة وسط البلد وحكايات مقاهي الأدباء و الصفوة و الحرافيش وعلاقتهم بالسياسة والأدب والثقافة والفن و كرة القدم. بين رائحة 'القهوة' وفراغ 'المقهى' اكتشفنا عوالم عن تاريخ وجغرافيا مصر.
'بدأت ارتشف رشفات متقطعة من الجَبَنة، إنها قهوة ليست بقهوة، تشعر فيها بمرارة القهوة لكنها ليست مثلها فالزنجبيل يضيف لها لذعه حارة تنتشر بهدوء متدرج في جميع شعيرات التنفس. هل تنقي الأسارير؟ ربما؟ لكن الأكيد أن المزيج الثلاثي من الزنجبيل والحبهان والقرنفل يعمل على إيقاظ بل واستثارة كل كامن!'
فصل بعنوان الجَبَنَة في حارة الصوفي من رواية شيماء عاشور القادمة.

بحثنا عن أصل فنجان القهوة وتاريخ نشأة مقاهي القاهرة وتحديدا منطقة وسط البلد وحكايات مقاهي الأدباء و الصفوة و الحرافيش وعلاقتهم بالسياسة والأدب والثقافة والفن و كرة القدم. بين رائحة 'القهوة' وفراغ 'المقهى' اكتشفنا عوالم عن تاريخ وجغرافيا مصر.
عندما أتحدث عن دور الإحاطة الذي لعبته حوائط وسط البلد .. أتذكر حوائط مقاهي وسط البلد. كم تمنيت يوما أن أصغي لحكايات تلك حوائط وبالذات حكايات حوائط جروبي، ربما ليقيني أنها ستتحدث عن ابتسامات وأحزان وتأملات ... تحمل طعم مربى الورد والفاكهة المسكرة ورائحة الكرواسون الطازج والقهوة المحوجة.
