Huge props to the folks at Spooky Empire for making the tough, but necessary, decision to postpone their event. Event management is difficult enough already, but throw in the unpredictability of weather along with all the other uncontrolable factors, and it becomes even that much harder. Ultimately, the safety and well being of the volunteers, fans, vendors, guests, and everyone else associated with the event is the most important. All our best to everyone involved and huge wishes of safety to everyone in Florida who could be impacted by the storm.

I've been a fan of Sting for as long as I can remember. Wrestling has been a part of my life since I was a kid. I watched wrestling every Saturday night in the summer when I was with my grandparents. I had uncles who worked at the Omni in Atlanta who told me all about working with the legends, my aunt had funny run ins with wrestlers locally growing up in Georgia, and I loved hearing their stories.

With my history of being a fan, I never imagined I would meet one of my all time favorite wrestlers, but not only did I get to meet him, I was fortunate enough to bring him to my events so that his fans could feel the way I did growing up (and still do whenever I see him). I was worried that meeting him would ruin the luster, that the stories and warnings about never meeting your heroes would end up being true, but it couldn't be further from the truth.

The brief conversations we had each time I saw him at one of our events, the attention he gave when I spoke, the questions he asked about music (and why I listened to classical taking him to or picking him up from the airport), the dad questions he asked about my kids, or just his reflections on my general calmness in the middle of show chaos made me like him even more.

As many have said, Icon is probably not strong enough of a word to describe someone who has affected so many people's lives, both professionally and personally. I know that I look forward to every time I get the chance to work with Sting, not only because he is someone I have looked up to for so long, but because he is more than I could have imagined after meeting him in person.

Thank you for being you, congratulations on your amazing career, and I look forward to seeing you again in May.

Thank for you making this Georgia born kid's fandom even stronger.

We spent last weekend in Florida at Pensacon, and this weekend we are in both Mississippi at CoastCon and Louisiana at Louisiana Retro Con promoting our Mobile Bay Anime Festival, Southernerds Festival, Louisiana Comic Con, Alabama Comic Con, & Preserve Halloween Festival events and saying hello to all the fandoms.
