December was a "break" month for me. Just in the sense that I needed to shift my focus from my novel to my writing assignments for school as well as enjoy the holidays with my kids. I definitely wrote- I journaled a lot and worked a bit here and there on my first draft. My original plan of finishing it by the end of 2023 basically flew out the window, though....

Here's my November rundown for writing!

This was a tough month, I have to say. I had lots of highs and lows when it came to my writing, but I’ve moved forward from where I was before, which is what counts. I’m being up front …

This legendary creature inspired a big portion of my world's historical timeline. He won't appear in my series as Tiddalik, but it's especially important to give credit to the minority cultures these creatures originate from.

The story of Tiddalik is a portion of the Australian Creation Story much like Christianity’s Noah’s Ark. Specifically, it’s a portion of the creation story for the Gunai/Kurnai pe…

Just like that, we’re over the hump of halfway there. It feels… Anticlimactic. And send my heart racing with a hint of anxiety. Because what if I continue to be as lazy with my writing as I was last week? What if I lose my motivation to finish altogether? I guess that’s why so Freas people finish because, a month isn’t a long time....

It started off with a confident bang that quickly digressed from there. I got so much done the week before and that first day, that I gave myself permission to slack off just a bit, which resulted in this icky-looking week of writing....

This portion of writing is for an assignment in my course that required us to tell a story through a scene with dialogue that portrays an obvious power discrepancy. The characters are from the series that I'm currently writing, and It's highly probable that this scene, reworked a little bit, will go into my first novel. Enjoy! The Birth of a Baby…...

Enjoy the first short story on my page! This was an assignment for my Cambridge class and thought it went really well! At least well enough to share with any willing readers. You'll also be able to find a downloadable version in my "writing portfolio".

This short story was an assignment for my class. The instructions were to write from the view of an unknown item sitting upon a grocery store’s shelves. The rest of the class had to read thro…

Good evening, Readers! I'm writing this quick post as an update on my NanoWriMo progress. Not to brag, but I'm killing it. It's the end of Day 7, and I have written 16,025 out of the 50,000 words. So far, my first draft is sitting at 44,415 words and, thanks to the extensive outlining I did this summer, I haven't fallen into a funk, yet....

Here's the very first post for my blog!

The dreaded intro post. I don’t like these because I either say too much or too little and end up sounding insincere or cliche. So bear with me through this thing. My name is Mele, as I wrote…
