What a week! We’ve had some glorious weather and the flowers have been loving it as much as me! It’s definitely been a week of mixed emotions as my little boy spent his last week at pre-school before he moves up to big school in September! To be able to give his amazing pre-school staff some homegrown flowers felt like a special thank you.

Work started on our new growing space last week. We moved house at the end of last year and have been lucky enough to have a garden which is a blank canvas. Sadly, I left behind some established trees and bushes in our old garden, which made great fillers, but I’m so excited to turn this area into a beautiful wildlife friendly space, full of British flowers. Better get sowing!

A fully natural and sustainable wreath, made for a funeral. Everything in this wreath will biodegrade slowly in a natural ceremonial park, whilst providing some food and shelter for wildlife. Now that feels good!

This week’s flowers were made into some little posey bunches. Some of these flowers have been growing organically since last Autumn. To finally pick them knowing they’ll brighten someone’s house for the weekend fills me with joy.

18th July. The dahlias and daisies are shooting up. It started raining this evening as I picked this bunch for myself and I honestly couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.

What I’m learning about growing cut flowers is that it’s hard work and everything takes far longer than you think. But, I am absolutely loving it! I’ve always loved being outside, and my own company. This morning I’ve been planting up dahlia tubers, in the sunshine, whilst listening to all the birds. Bliss!
