More sad news:
The Maleny Music Festival will not be going ahead in 2020 due to the Coronavirus.
Pity, it was a great festival last year. Let's hope it's on in 2021.
A Saturday event, possibly in October or November, is being explored, with Social Distancing policies in place.

The Coronavirus seems to be affecting the festival scene in Australia. Dark M**o is off, but Bluesfest, Groovin the Moo, Download and Splendour in the Grass are set to go ahead, at this stage anyway. No doubt more events will be affected in the coming months.

The Port Fairy Festival is done and dusted and we would have to say, it’s been one of the best festivals we’ve been to. The organisation was first class, the acts were first class and the weather was reasonable (sunny, but a cold wind during the day).
Some of the standout acts were Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi, CW Stoneking, Band of Brothers, Yolanda Brown and John Smith. Numerous others, including Elanor McEvoy, Neil Murray, Judith Owen and Jeff Lang were great to see. The Blind Boys of Alabama drew the crowds and were quite good considering they’ve been singing for over 70 years!

Due to the current and continuing bushfire situation and the heavy toll it is taking on the community, the committee, the volunteers and the larger community, the organisers have regrettably come to the decision to cancel this years festival.

Australia’s biggest little blues festival held the third weekend of February every year!

The 2020 Cobargo Folk festival has been postponed as they regather, recover and rebuild after the devastating fire that swept through our village on New Year’s Eve 2019.
Maybe later on in the year!

Last weekend saw us at one of the boutique folk festivals, Cygnet Folk Festival. Great venues around the town with great acts. Some of our favourites we'd seen before and were happy to see again were Rory McLeod, Hello Tut tut, and Monique Claire. The weather was great too!

January brings heaps of varied festivals and events to Australia, from the legendary Tamworth Country Music Festival, the Parkes Elvis Festival, The Great Eastern Fly-In to the Maslin Beach N**e Games, just to name a few. Check out the website for a comprehensive list.

We’ll be in Tasmania, so we’re off to the one of the smaller, but popular events, the Cygnet Folk Festival, starting on Friday the 10th January and going through until the 12th January. You can set up camp at Burton's Reserve in the village itself and walk to all the venues.
With over 100 acts, street theatre, buskers, workshops and numerous food venues, there’s lots to enjoy. We’ve attended the Cygnet Folk Festival before and it never disappoints. Check out the website cygnetfolkfestival.org.

Just spent four days at the Mullum Music Festival at Mullumbimby, NSW. No big names so the crowds weren’t big. Some good acts. Everybody's tastes are different, but we enjoyed Cigany Weaver, Juzzie Smith, Palm Wine Ambassadors, Harry James Angus, Nano Stern, Dustyesky and Monique Clare who was different; a celloist and singer with upbeat songs. (Check out the video).
