Known from hotmixing rap, r’n’b, reggae and things at Helsinki’s first big room r’n’b clubs. In the lack of gigs at existing clubs after the millenium - DJ K2 started his own club nights such as Peaches & Cream, Fiesta, Hustle and Soulclap. These turned out to be the cornerstones of the Finnish urban club scene in the early 2000’s. DJ K2’s famous slogan “Certified Blazin” reflected his ambition to always introduce new club bangers for the downtown party crowds.
On the radio he ran a popular “100 %” mixshow on Finland’s national youth YLEX station and later on was a regular guest mixing on local Helsinki frequencies. Consistent work with clubs, radio and promotional mixtapes led to him being the first European member of New York's Salute Entertainment in the early 2000s. Salute was popular dj and promotions crew operating in Tri-state area New York, producing party break records and mixtapes. K2 regularly traveled to the city which he considers the birthplace of hip hop clubs and established relations to major record labels which in return supported their Nordic tastemaker with new product.
DJ K2 opened shows for a number of classic rap acts such as Gang Starr, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, The Game, Erick Sermon, Joe Budden, Raekwon, J. Dilla, Masta Ace and Ghostface Killah just to name a few. Later pursuing a nine-to-five career, K2 retired from the club circuit at the end of 2000s - just to dust off his record collection and to swiftly return a few years later. Since 2013 he is the resident dj at Big Chips, Helsinki - and as of today - The Deuce.
