Happy Earth Day! At Pink Peony, we try very hard to be as sustainable and Earth-friendly as possible. Here are just a couple of things that we do:
Reusable mechanics: Almost all of our installations and arrangements use the same mechanics from event to event. These include chicken wire, water picks, and custom made arches. For installations that have a higher water requirement, we have special "invisible" vases that we design in so that the vase cannot be seen.
Source seasonally and locally: We've been trying and will continue to try even harder to source from local and seasonal growers. This saves on emissions just from negating the need to ship flowers across the globe.
Vase rentals: Our events automatically include a vase rental. It's highly unlikely that you want to keep the 15 vases left over from your party and these often get shoved under the sink for a couple years before they're thrown away. By renting the vases, not only are we minimizing impact on the environment, we're also minimizing your cost!
There are many other little things that we do, but we're also not perfect. I was trained on using floral foam and shipped flowers. It can be difficult for me to work with reusable mechanics or locally grown blooms. It can be easy to fall into the "all or nothing" mindset. Like, if I can't be perfectly sustainable, then what's the point? But I think every little thing matters. We hope that our small, everyday actions can have a monumental impact on preserving our beautiful planet. After all, Mother Earth is the one that gives us these beautiful blooms in the first place. Everyday resents something new to learn and we hope to never stop learning and growing! 🌍💓

I'm one of those people that takes pictures of eeeeeeverything. And while my iCloud storage situation may be... a little complicated, I absolutely love scrolling through old pictures. It never fails to make me smile to relive the fun experiences I've had, the amazing work my loved ones and I have accomplished, and just even the blurry pictures I have of random things that brought me joy at that time.
