Johnson averaged 6.1 YPC while rushing for 952 yards and 15 total TDs as a sophomore. He added 249 receiving yards and finished with 1,281 all-purpose yards.

Winfrey rushed for 1,717 yards & 28 TDs while adding 389 receiving yards & 2 TDs. He added 72 tackles, 9 TFLs, 2 FF, and 1 INT on defense.

The Jobko Award is named after '53 Bridgeport High grad Bill Jobko who was a 3 sport standout for the Bulldogs. He would play OG & LB for Ohio State after high school where he won 2 National Championships. He was drafted by the L.A. Rams & played 8 seasons in the NFL.

Introducing your 2023 Howley Award Winner Taison Starr of Barnesville signifying the top two-way player of the season!

Starr finished the season with 1,237 yards rushing at 6.9 YPC & 20 TDs along with 321 receiving yards at 20.1 YPC & 6 TDs. He had 94 tackles, 13.5 TFLs and 3 forced turnovers as an iron man player for the Shamrocks.

The Howley Award is named after '54 Warwood High grad Chuck Howley. He lettered in 5 sports at WVU where he played guard, center and LB while earning All-Conference 3 times. He was selected in the 1st round by the Chicago Bears. He is a Super Bowl MVP, 6x All-Pro, 6x Pro-Bowler and recently inducted into the Pro Football HOF.

Defending his honor from a season ago, Conor Fitzpatrick of John Marshall is your 2023 Groza Award Winner signifying the top specialist of the season!

Fitzpatrick went 21/21 on PATs, 6/9 on field goals with a long of 47, 27/32 on touchbacks & had a 38.4 yard punt average this year.

The Groza Award is named after '42 Martins Ferry grad Lou "The Toe” Groza who would attend Ohio State after high school. He signed with the Cleveland Browns after joining the Army where he played professionally for 21 seasons. He is the most decorated Ohio Valley athlete of all time.

Introducing your 2023 Jeter Award Winner Cameron McAfee of Harrison Central signifying the top DB of the season!

McAfee was a dynamic player for the Huskies in all three phases and totaled 84 tackles, 12 PBUs, 9 INTs, & 4 forced fumbles on defense this season as a junior.

The Jeter Award is named after '56 Weir grad Bob Jeter who became the first black athlete to be recognized as WV All-State in football before attending Iowa. He would play in the CFL & NFL where he was a 5x champion, All-Pro, & Pro Bowler. He is in the Green Bay Packers HOF.

Introducing your 2023 Mehl Award Winner Raymond Kovalesky Linsly signifying the top LB of the season!

Kovalesky is your classic throwback MLB and has been a stalwart player for the Cadets in his high school career. He totaled 138 tackles and 5 TFLs in 10 games this season.

The Mehl Award is named after '76 All-Ohio Bellaire grad Lance Mehl who would go on to play for Penn State where he was named an All-American. After college he was drafted in the 3rd round by the NY Jets where he played for 9 years. He was a Pro Bowler & All-Pro in '85.

Defending his honor from a season ago, Jamie Riedel of Linsly is your 2023 Wolfe Award Winner signifying the top DL of the season!

Riedel has won back-to-back Wolfe awards and wreaked havoc on opposing offenses again this year. He finished with 77 tackles, 18 TFLs, & 5 sacks.

The Wolfe Award is named after '08 Beaver Local grad Derek Wolfe who went on to have a great career at the University of Cincinnati before being selected by the Denver Broncos in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft. He won Super Bowl 50 as a member of the Broncos & played 10 seasons.

Introducing your 2023 Drummond Award Winner Dominic Bouscher of Toronto signifying the top playmaker of the season!

Bouscher was the Red Knights’ leading rusher with 889 yards and 11 TDs while averaging 10.2 YPC. He added 581 receiving yards and 4 TDs to total 1,534 all-purpose yards. Bouscher signed with D1 Central Michigan University for baseball.

The Drummond Award is named after '98 Linsly grad Eddie Drummond who had 70 TD's and scored 424 points in his prep career. He signed with Penn State after high school and was then a Pro-Bowler & All-Pro as a kick returner for the Detroit Lions and played five seasons in the NFL.

The 6’3 275 senior dominated at left guard for the Red Devils all season. He showed a nasty streak and great drive on film while having high-level athleticism.

The Lamone Award is named after '51 Wellsburg High grad Gene "Beef" Lamone who became a Captain and All-American at West Virginia University as an Offensive Guard. He was drafted by the Eagles in the 5th round and played 3 seasons in the NFL with the Eagles and Browns.

Introducing your 2023 Hinkle Award Winner Isaac Hill of Steubenville signifying the top FB/TE!

Hill has shown tremendous versatility this season lining up at TE/H-Back, Slot and WR while being a willing blocker. The 6’4 215 senior has 71 catches for 1,243 yards and 10 TDs through 13 weeks.

The Hinkle Award is named after 1927 Toronto High graduate Clarke Hinkle who was Mr. Football in Ohio and an All-American at Bucknell University as a FB/LB. He then had a prolific career with the Green Bay Packers where he was a 7x All-Pro and a member of the Pro Football HOF.

Ogle set 5 school receiving records for career receptions & touchdowns, single season yards, and single game receptions & yards. He had 89 catches for 1,425 yards & 14 TDs this year.

The Galloway Award is named after former '90 Bellaire WR Joey Galloway who went on to have a record breaking collegiate career at Ohio State before being a top 10 pick in the NFL where he had a prolific 16 year career.

Introducing your 2023 Wilson Award Winner Gage Wright of Parkersburg South signifying the top RB of the season!

Wright rushed for 1,889 yards and 23 TDs in the regular season. He also caught 30 passes for 440 yards and 9 more TDs to total 2,500 all-purpose yards and 35 TDs.

The Wilson Award is named after former '99 Weir star RB Quincy Wilson who had a prolific high school career before attending West Virginia University which lead him to being drafted into the NFL where he played for 4 years for the Falcons and Bengals.

Cline rewrote the record book at BL on his way to over 3,000 total yards and 41 TDs. He threw for 1,849 yards and 20 TD’s while rushing for 1,203 yards and 21 TDs.

The Collaros Award is named after former Steubenville Big Red ('07) standout QB Zach Collaros who went on to have a stellar career at the University of Cincinnati before enjoying a long and very successful career in the CFL where he is still currently playing.
