Happy Thanksgiving! My hope is that today was a time of rest and reconnection. A time to spend with family and/or friends. A time to reflect on the things, opportunities, and people that 2023 brought into our lives. 🥰 What (or who) is something you’re thankful for? 👇🏼

• the 10 incredible couples who welcomed Heart & Soul into their lives this year 👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏽💍

First dance nerves getting to you? 🫣

If you’re not super comfortable with all the attention or you have two left feet, keep reading for some tips to feel more confident on the dance floor👇🏼

1️⃣ Keep it short and sweet. I always suggest my couples ask their band or DJ to fade out their first dance song at 1.5-2 min. 3-4 min can feel awkwardly long. 🥴
2️⃣ Keep it simple. Similarly, don’t feel like you need to have a ton of fancy moves. Just enjoy the moment in whatever way allows you two to be comfortable!
3️⃣ Take dance lessons. 💃🏻 To boost your confidence, sign up for some private dance lessons before your wedding day, just to get the hang of the basics + a few extras!
4️⃣ Invite your parents and/or wedding party to join you after the first 30 sec or so! It takes the attention off you and creates a beautiful memory with your favorite people! 🥰

Be still. In these moments leading up to Christmas, it can feel like there’s never enough time to get all the shopping done, food prepared, presents wrapped, house decorated, and so on…

But at the end of the day, this season isn’t about any of that. It’s about the little boy who was born in a manger of scratchy hay in a barn of smelly animals who would live a perfect life, die, and return to life so that even when we don’t live perfectly, we can experience the joy of living alongside him in this world & forever. ✨

I encourage you to take some time in these next 2 days to put down your phone, sit quietly, & let God meet you where you are. Give Him space to be still with you. ❤️

Do you prefer yellow gold or white gold? 💛💍🤍

White gold is by far more popular right now, and for good reason! Diamonds in a white gold setting really shine and a white gold band gives it a seamless look. Plus white gold is generally more durable!

That said, I love a classic yellow gold band. 😍 Even though it’s not nearly as popular right now, yellow gold has a timeless quality and just looks good on everyone!

After soaking in a meaningful ceremony & putting away a tasty dinner, (most of us) are ready to let loose & party! 🥳

But how do you keep the dance floor full all night? Tbh a lot of it is based on your crowd, but here are some tips to get + keep the party going!

• Make the transition smooth 👉🏼 moving from dinner to dancing can be a bit of a jolt without a good transition. Adding Father/Daughter & Mother/Son dances, the Anniversary Dance, a bouquet toss, or a game to lighten the mood and physically get people to move closer to the dance floor is a good start!

• Let the good times roll 💃🏻 don’t kill the vibe by breaking up the dancing with too many extra events. If you want to do a cake cutting, bouquet toss, game, anniversary dance, etc. do it before dancing starts or break just once 45 min to an hour into dancing.

• Pick a good DJ & playlist 🎶 This one might seem obvious but make sure your DJ has smooth transitions (read reviews or hire one you’ve heard DJ before). There’s nothing worse than a jarring switch or awkward silence between songs. Also make sure you & your DJ are on the same page about who’s making the playlist and what style of music is going to pump your crowd up!

• Don’t drag it out 🙅🏻‍♀️ Keep the party to a reasonable length. You might want to be there all night but not all of your guests are going to be up to that. Know your crowd and don’t plan for the party to last too long OR too late. You want to end on a high note with a packed dance floor, not when people have all trickled out.

Just thankful 🤎

This year was my first with Heart & Soul as my full-time job. The Lord called me to trust Him and take a leap of faith back in April, and He has been providing every step of the way since!

I am so grateful for the 13 incredible couples that trusted me to come alongside them through one of the most special and unique seasons of life this year. I truly have the best couples that so often become friends.

Thank you to the vendors that partnered with my couples and I this season. You have cared for my couples so well and made my job so much easier as a result of your professionalism, communication, and talented work!

I couldn’t do this dream job without my amazing team of assistants! You are the backbone of Heart & Soul, and I’m just so thankful for how you love our couples well, find joy in caring for guests, do the heavy-lifting & mundane tasks with a willing heart, and show me so much grace.

I am so grateful for each one of YOU - my supporters, encouragers, referral-givers, sounding boards, & cheerleaders. Your support has made a difference in this business & in my life.

It’s often been hard to continue to hold this gift with an open hand, but I choose to let God lead me and this business into whatever will honor Him in the season to come! Thankful for 2022, and here’s to what’s in store! 🥂✨

Sometimes the smallest things can hold the most meaning ✨

When it comes to detail shots, it’s an opportunity to capture some of the small, but most special elements in your wedding ⬇️
• earrings from your grandmother
• personalized vows
• locket with your parents’ wedding portrait

My tip? Pack all of the items you want detail photos of in one box or bag to hand to your photographer when they arrive! 🎁 Here’s my shortlist:

• stamps and/or wax seals

Here’s 3 tips you’ll want to save for later! If you’re going to have music at your wedding, consider these tips before it’s too late! 👇🏼

1️⃣ If you’re having live musicians play for your ceremony instead of a DJ, you’ll probably need them and/or the officiant to be amplified 🎤 (most likely by a DJ/band)

2️⃣ You might not actually want to dance to the entirety of your first dance song - it can get awkward after a min or two. 🥴 You can ask the DJ to fade in or out early to shorten it!

3️⃣ Let your DJ know ahead of time if you want them to take requests during dancing!
