Historic Gordonido was originally constructed in 1837 by John R. Originally known as the Dawson Place, the home was renamed Gordonido, (Spanish for Gordon's "nest" or "residence”) after being purchased by Frederick B. The lush gardens were designed by Atlanta-based landscape architect Edward L. The private walkways, charming green spaces, and majestic trees were artfully crafted to complement the

architecture of Gordonido. Over the decades, the estate has been lovingly maintained and thoughtfully enhanced to preserve its striking beauty. Gordonido was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 8, 1979.
