Image 2: KABUL, AFGHANISTAN - MARCH 2019: A muddy lane in Hussain Khail informal settlement in the outskirts of Kabul. Most of the people in the camp come from the northern province of Kunduz. The intense fighting between the Taliban and the Afghan Army pushed them to leave the area. Every family has a harrowing war story, many have been injured in the crossfire and many they lost family members in the fighting. Almost two-thirds of the Afghan population lives in areas directly affected by conflict and many families took the tough decision to relocate to refugee camps near urban centres. According to UNHCR data 340 thousand people were forced to flee from their homes in 2018 setting the total of internal displaced people to a record number of almost 2 million.
