Today we say goodbye to my beloved godmother, Bernadette Grese, who passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 76. Bernadette wasn’t just my godmother—she was one of the women who raised me and shaped me into the man, floral artist, and businessperson I am today. Her impact on my life is immeasurable, and I was so lucky to have the time I did with her.
Bernadette was an incredible florist and an even more incredible woman. As a business leader, she brought beauty and creativity into every room she touched. As a devoted member of her church and community, her faith and generosity inspired everyone who knew her. And as a mother, grandmother, and friend, she filled the lives of those around her with boundless love and kindness. She made everyone feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.
Her family was her greatest joy—her children, Stacie and Blaise, and her grandchildren, Alayna, Alexis, and Shane, meant the world to her. But Bernadette had a way of making everyone she cared about feel like family. She stepped in for me when I needed it most, guiding me with her wisdom, laughter, and love.
, a dear family friend, shared a beautiful reflection at the funeral that perfectly captured Bernadette’s spirit and the extraordinary life she led. It reminded me how lucky we all were to have known her and how much her light shined in our lives.
Her bows will never be matched, and Elizabeth Giant Eagle Floral will never feel the same without her. I hope Heaven has a glittery, sparkly pair of angel wings waiting for her, surrounded by the most beautiful flowers. Bernadette, thank you for everything—for your love, your guidance, and for shaping me into who I am. I will miss you more than words can say. ♥️💐
