I am planning to make my masks & head-dresses again....hopefully with in the year. Here is a growing colleciton of inspirations... some inspire me through the lines on the face & head, some the overall color, maybe it was the size, the overall feel, or for the sheer fantasticness of it all.

Today begins a new phase of creativity. Maybe another wedding dress. Definitely preparations for a festival in the fall and more to come. I am full of inspirations, gratitude and joyful for what our future holds. ~

Here is what I've been up to the last couple of months. My first 'made from scratch' custom designed, custom fit order. Kaitlin's wedding dress is made from 100% cotton and genuine wursted wool Lyndsay Tartan. Her dress is five pieces that can be worn separately. The ensemble includes a front and back lace up corset bodice, detachable hand dyed cotton guaze sleeves, four gored overskirt with double front ribbon pulls with hand dyed cotton gauze ruffle, a wrap around circle underskirt made of wursted wool Lyndsay Tartan and topped with a matching ribbon wrapped hand sewn head dress. Thank you Kaitlin for trusting in my abilities and choosing me as your dressmaker. My experience making your magical dress has truly been amazing.

DreamDance Asheville will be gathering the dance community on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Sunset to celebrate Earth Day. The night will open with a Temple Dance performance, then we will all flow into a union of movement with a very special DJ. Come honor Mother Nature's ultimate dance floor with us. My daughter Iona just grew out of these. The wear you see is from lots of crawling....about 3 months worth of constant wear... in the snow and rain in the mud, on grass and concrete in sand and leaves. These were the only shoes she wore.

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2013 Couture

As a young woman it was my 'secret' dream to be an avant garde fashion designer. I did not know exactly what that meant....I just knew that what I saw in fashion that was really "out there" was what I wanted to do. For many reasons, I did not feel my dreams were attainable. I thought this dream of mine was so unattainable that I did not share with anyone, even myself really, until recently. My dreams have since grown and changed and I now see them as fully attainable. While this link is more Haute Couture, I see it and Avant Garde Fashion in general as a great inspiration and reminder for me to fully be my creative self. A message to those whom are intimidated by their own ambitions and dreams... "Push through your fears and really jump into your dreams. Your fears are not real, your dreams can be."

This bustle was inspired by the pinkish red 80's suede jacket that it is made from. As usual it turned into more detail and design than initially planned, but that is part of the fun. This bustle is made of 2 vintage suede jackets; one a chocolate brown; very simple 90's button up jacket & the other an iconic 80's jacket with the triangle design with pleats you see here on back an pockets. I am in love with this piece and am keeping it for myself, however I will be making more in the very near future and will post them onto my Etsy shop.
