New Super 8 wedding up on the blog!

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared a wedding on my blog but that’s not to say I haven’t been shooting them! Wanted to share a bit of a throwback favorite from 2021. COVID did obviously eliminate weddings for the NYC area for pretty much all of 2020 but I did end up shooting some love...

Shout out to for the opportunity to take these and for the assist and good company. Was a wild night where we shot around 50 8x10 Polaroids of the guests outside in the middle of February. The film didn’t like the cold but the results were lit!

Starting 2024 off with a throwback to shooting with in 2021 because she’s got a show this Thursday in NYC and if you’re local, check her out! Been a fan of her music for a minute now and just love supporting local music!

We shot a bunch of large format, expired Polaroids and 35mm around my apartment. Was a good day.

I love shooting NYFW. It’s fun. It’s exhausting. The outfits are insane. You meet cool people. The energy is fantastic. So when my friend, Burke, asked me to shoot some BTS alongside him at the Inherent fashion show at NYFW back in February and said “bring whatever cameras you want”, I was i...

hardly knew each other for 30 mins when we made this double exposure but sometimes that’s all you need. We shot only a few frames together that day but had a good time creating each one and basking in the creative energy at PolaCon. Even with a blank room, you can create some rad stuff with the right people and the right connection.

Often times being enthusiastic about things is seen as nerdy or lame but I think it’s lovely. It’s good vibes. And especially when it’s art, it means you’re creating. Either solo or with friends. My guy actually hooked me up with the extremely rare Polaroid high contrast film that day for the very moody black and white (and negative) of Sarah. That’s love y’all.

Truly a high moment of this year was getting to collab with the incredibly talented and kind while at .con NYC and shooting an 8x10 Polaroid of her.

I was planning on doing a demo of the 8x10 Polaroid process and Sarah was doing a demo of her self portraiture techniques before me so I figured I’d ask if she’d be willing to be my subject which she was more than thrilled to oblige.

I grabbed some flowers she had for her demo and said a prayer to the film gods as I fired off an insanely rare Polaroid 809 8x10 film and a smaller 669 shot on the 4x5.

The next moments (captured amazingly by .polaroidist in the two 600 frames) will live rent free in my head for a while. Peeling an 8x10 Polaroid in front of a screaming crowd of people was quite the rush! And thankfully it came out looking stunning!! (And gives some Edwin Land vibes of his iconic 8x10 peel moment). Peeling and seeing an 8x10 Polaroid in person is truly an visceral experience than a little Instagram post can’t do justice to unfortunately!

Grateful for the creative space that / fostered with PolaCon, Sarah for modeling and the good vibes of that weekend.

Time to walk. Rehearsal BTS film of show in February. Using these manual focus cameras for a moving target was definitely a challenge but seeing the results made it worth the effort. Such a vibe!

With a little bit of a wedding backlog, this one is from before the world went crazy. It’s Tori and Eric’s Hudson Valley wedding on Super 8 and Polaroids! They had a lovely little ceremony upstate in the Hudson Valley literally overlooking the Hudson River. It was stunning! Take a look below!

A little test with a 4x5 portrait of Martha from a random afternoon when she came over with to hang out. One of my first successful ones. Wasn’t in love with the texture at first but now really love it. Along with a few other scenes and types we played around with that day. The last frame is the original 4x5 shot.

2023 goal is to do more analog printing. It’s such a cool experience.

Yes that’s Harrison Ford. And Helen Mirren. An assisting gig of a lifetime for sure for

My fellow photo nerd Sarah hit me up in September wanting to hire me to assist with my beloved Graflex large format camera to shoot promo photos for the new Yellowstone show, 1923 featuring Harrison and Helen since it’s a mostly period accurate camera I am very familiar with

Moved around what plans I had and flew out the next week to Butte, MT to shoot large format Orotones and Polaroids of the cast of the show on location. We shot over 200 large format frames that day and then the chemical wizard Sam got to work making period-accurate orotones glass prints of those shots. The cast was lovely. Our little dorky film team was awesome and tiny compared to the digital crews running around that day in which I was deemed “Nicky Peels” lol. But we did it and the finals were featured in and one even made it into the show intro. And more to come!

And yes… my favorite hashtag, made it to the big time when Paramount Plus did a reel of the Harrison and Helen Polaroid peels in Montana featuring my very dusty hands. haha.

Then to top it off, Sarah dragged me out to Vegas in early December for the main premiere of 1923 to assist her shooting large format Polaroids on the red carpet with my camera. We shot 57 peels in 45 mins and then stayed up til 4am to scan them all for an exclusive in the next day. Not your average red carpet photos!

Very thankful for the opportunities I’ve had in 2022 to hang and shoot with Sarah and the other photogs I’ve assisted. Hoping to do more work in 2023 and even shoot a few of my own projects as well. Here’s the that!

I generally only post my own photo work but this past year had a couple of rad opportunities to assist with my large format cameras and wanted to share a few of those as the year comes to a close.

I mean when hits you up because he wants to shoot 8x10 Polaroids in 2 days of , ya gotta say yes. Drug the 8x10 and processor on a plane and we ripped some huge Polaroids that day including expired 8x10 peels with the final images being published as the cover story of Winter ‘22 edition. Insane.

Huge shout out to for lending me the camera and for the crash pad and strobes. And for the film.
