A few photos from Saturday’s Civil War Barn Dance hosted by the Daughter’s of Union Veterans (DUV). Music was provided by the Susquehanna Travelers. We have hosted the Barn Dance for HGAC (Historic Gettysburg Adams County) since 2012 and this was the first year for the DUV. Stay tuned for updates about next year’s dance.

Erin Brown — 43 Water Street, Fairfield. Erin is an artist who has created whimsical drawings and paintings since graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in 1993. She uses her imagination and nature to inspire her use of color and imagery. She has also focused on capturing the essence of buildings which can be seen in her building portraits.

Andrea Finch creates sculptural quilts of botanical subjects, realistic to abstract, exploring textile textures. Her botanical obsession began with photographing and creating an arboretum in her yard. After years away from fiber arts, she has come back to quilt-making from a different angle. She has let go of the rules and allows the fabric to speak through texture, color, and design.

Anne Finucane showing at Beech Springs Farm
Anne works in a variety of printmaking and other fine art media, and will be showing her linocuts and watercolors at the tour. A long-time organizer for arts organizations in the Chambersburg area, her work has been accepted into juried exhibitions in Gettysburg, Hagerstown, Baltimore, Washington, DC and New York City. She has been honored with one-person shows throughout Franklin County and her work is held in permanent collections in Chambersburg, Gettysburg and Hagerstown, MD.

Judy Pyle — showing at Beech Springs Farm, 784 Mt. Carmel Road, Orrtanna.
Judy makes jewelry in hand-fabricated silver, torch-fired enamels on copper and fine silver. Her new enamel pieces are wearable sculptures. She has been a life-long art educator, as well as a practicing artist. Her most recent small sculptures — enameled items and other found objects — have been juried into national exhibits.
