McDaniel-Tichenor House National Registry for Historical Places Built in 1887 for Governor Henry McDaniel, this historical landmark is on the National Register for Historical Places.

Once the home of three generations of the McDaniel and Tichenor families, it is now a non-profit organization for the benefit of the community. We provide historical tours and special events to include weddings, bridal showers/luncheons, rehearsal dinners, business parties, or any special event for private rentals as well as our own events.

2025 Scholarship Applications NOW BEING ACCEPTED.

The McDaniel-Tichenor House Board of Directors is pleased to engage the community and support local students in their educational endeavors by offering a scholarship award.

Candidates must be:
- A senior in good standing at a public or private high school located in Walton County
- A Walton County resident
- Have been accepted to the University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology, Davidson College, or Mercer University for the term starting in August 2025

Henry's father, Ira Oliver McDaniel, co-founded Atlanta's first successful daily newspaper, the Daily Intelligencer, in 1849.

This paper eventually evolved into what we know today as the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

We obviously cherish the history of this home AND also we love making new memories.

Recently, we hosted an etiquette class for the Boys & Girls Club.

Topics included:
- Setting tables
- Dinner conversations
- Eye contact
- Hand shakes
- Thank you notes

Basically, ALL things etiquette. ❤️ 🏡
