First comes love. Then comes marriage… we are SO excited for these two who just yesterday announced they’ve got a baby girl on the way!
We received so many DMs about yesterday’s reel, so I thought this setup deserved another moment.
Shay was such a dream to work with: she fully trusted my team to design, plan and execute every detail of her 3-day destination wedding weekend, including the things she didn’t think about. I especially wanted her dress to be a centerpiece of that morning’s activities because she’d made the investment in a custom piece. No average hanger would do it justice. I absolutely adore how her bridal suite turned out - do you???

As if by magic, the wind began to diedown just as we walked Devin onto the dance floor for the first look. The anticipation was unmistakeable in that moment. In an instant, thoughts of all the uncertainty due to the onset of the Pandemic crossed everyone’s mind inside that clear-walled tent: Rachel’s countless hours at work as an epidemiologist while Covid-19 turned our world upside down, the cancelation of their July Tulum wedding when realization set in that the lockdown was only the beginning, the impromptu Catholic ceremony in their childhood church without guests or family present, and the weighty decision to proceed with a small reception even while the future was unclear. I believe all of these things flashed in our minds as we stood and watched Rachel tentatively approach Devin - and witnessed Devin’s raw emotions as he saw his beautiful bride in her dress for the first time. That very moment was the fulfillment of a promise merely delayed, not denied.

Hurricanes and wind storms always seem to find me 😩😂. A tent is a good weather backup for your wedding. But a clear-top structure tent anchored by cement blocks and installed days before a hurricane randomly rolls through is AN AWESOME backup for an outdoor wedding. Aside from the crazy looking palm trees in the background, you would have never known we endured 8 hours of 45-60MPH winds during setup that day. 😩. But the said “cool, cool” and made the magic happen anyway.

In the midst of the pandemic’s chaos, Cortney and Garrison took a leap of faith and chose me to lead them through unchartered wedding territory. It has been A YEAR to say the least. But their trust and deference has been a breath of fresh air when I’ve seriously questioned whether continuing with this work was worth it. It reminded me exactly who I do this for and inspired me to keep operating in a space of passion and purpose. I’m so grateful to my newest newlyweds. It was an honor to celebrate you this weekend.
