Evening Family
We'd like to present a phenomenal artist from the Free State to join us at Awakening Social Sessions: Reclaiming Space for our Visual art exhibition

Bokang Jpeg was born (1999) in Bloemfontein, free state currently based in Johannesburg. Their work explores the complexities of life from their lens and how it has shaped the person they are today. From exploring cultural themes through photography and the life of their blackness within the only black space they have a relationship with being the township. From the kids playing at the park to them playing football on abandoned land.

"My duty is to tell a story and portray my life and the life of others around me in a way that dies not take away their dignity. I am a firm believer of showing parts of blackness which aren't harmful towards the subjects in the theme of the story being told. I have a very solid connection with this work I create and the people. This work is not led by me rather by spirit and when the spirit tells me to pass it down, I do."

"A purveyor of eclectic sounds and a chilled out atmosphere."
Primarily my musical influence came from my parent’s records collection. I grew up on a lot of funk, soul, jazz/blues & video games tunes. And, apart from my folk’s collection, I have always been a hip-hop/rap fan however very versatile to infuse different genres.
For me, it’s about the mood and a deep, hypnotic groove… playing those feel good tracks that get you in a trance regardless of genre, tempo, style, or release.

Good evening family we would like to announce with great joy the return of Amandla Danca Teatro Za to offer one of their most exciting productions

Mwana Wa Mvula follows the journey of a male rainmaker, Lerumo in a tug of war of good versus good. His natural spiritual gift clashes with father’s Christian belief. Lerumo is faced with situations and circumstances that tests his innate instinct versus his societal fed metric. His answers lie in water as he struggles to find his balance in an extreme tug-of-war. He later starts to understands his power and communication with water. When he begins to be one with water, his journey and path is cleared. We eventually watch him choose his path.

Mogale is an Art Activist and one of the founder's of The Street Philosophy Poetry Society.
