And just like that, the first half of the year has wrapped up . . . We try to take January and July off every year with good reason - we're whooped! I told somebody yesterday that our retirement job is more taxing than our real jobs were, especially for a couple old people 🙃
Yesterday we did a 90th Birthday in Cordon, then a 70th Wedding Anniversary in Elizabeth - it's such a pleasure seeing these milestone moments celebrated 🥰
Lots of pulled pork & chicken was consumed; the cheesy red potatoes were a hit and everybody loved the green beans . . . Fun Fact - when we were asked to do our first wedding reception, we'd never made green beans 🙀 Imagine our surprise when they became one of our most popular sides (and I don't even eat green beans!)
We made Amish Broccoli Salad for 200+ for the first time. If you've never had to quantify a recipe you threw together for your 2 selves, try it sometime - it'll give you fits. It all worked out well but I'm pretty sure Kaity & I won't be eating broccoli anytime soon 😉
It's time for some down time - we'll be back at it the end of July. To all the 40+ different folks we've catered for so far this year, THANKS FOR HAVING US!
